Reasons your business should opt for plastic cases
There are arguably two compelling reasons why plastic cases are great choice for such a wide range of applications – the amount of choice available (in terms of sizes, styles, colours, strength etc.) and their competitive price points.
The sheer range of case styles and brands virtually guarantees that there will be a suitable plastic case for your requirements. The varying levels of protective performance – everything from lightweight plastic through to fully watertight IP rated cases – also ensures that there is a plastic travel case for any application.
Plastic cases are typically lower in cost that aluminium containers or custom-built options such as flight cases. Whilst prices vary dependent on quality, material, strength etc., the vast array of options means there is likely to be a case that fits your budget as well as your intended use.
Other benefits of plastic cases
There are numerous other reasons to use plastic cases too.
This includes them being easy to clean, thanks to their smooth surfaces and the nature of their design (many include integrated hinges and catches for example).
Besides this, even the lightweight plastic cases tend to be fairly durable and robust, providing good longevity. This allows for many hundreds of uses (often thousands) which means that the lifetime costs of the cases work out very favourably.
They also offer good levels of protection and resistance to water (with the high-end cases providing IP ratings of 67 or more). They also offer wide range of customisation options.
And finally, plastic cases can usually be recycled at the end of their usable life. Typically, being manufactured from Polypropylene or similar materials, it allows them to be recycled if taken to specialist recycling centres.
Plastic cases with foam inserts
Plastic cases also provide excellent customisation potential.
Whilst most cases offer a number of varying options as standard – such as colours, lid stays, catch colours and even options for clear plastic cases (with many offering split lid / base colours), GWP can offer your business many options beyond this too.
This includes enhanced protection and presentation for your items within the case through the use of fully engineered foam inserts. These case inserts – or even a simple foam lining – can help organise items and absorb any forces caused by mishandling that may damage them.
As well as foam inserts offering the potential to improve aesthetics (particularly with shadow-board foam using contrasting colours), your plastic cases appearance can be enhanced in other ways too.
This includes printing onto the surface of your carry cases (particularly beneficial when using them as salesman sample cases), adding detailed graphics through in mould labelling (ideal for retail applications) or even simple vinyl lettering and labels.

What are plastic cases used for?
Depending on the type of plastic case you select, it can be used for a wide range of applications. Typically, the lightweight carry case options are used as sample cases for sales reps, storing tools and equipment, or being taken onto site by service engineers. The tough, waterproof case options are generally used in conjunction with foam inserts when the highest levels of protection are required. Many plastic cases are also used for retail applications and added value packaging too.
What are the differences between lightweight and heavy-duty cases?
The main difference between lightweight and heavy-duty cases is the amount of protection they will offer their contents (which is also reflected in their durability and price points). As such, it is important to consider the intended use of the case, which will allow you to select one that offers the best balance of cost vs protection.
Can I purchase plastic cases with foam inserts?
All of the plastic cases available can be sourced with custom foam inserts. In fact, plastic cases with foam provide a range of additional benefits, including improved protection for the contents (absorbing shock), allowing for improved organisation of parts / products, and improving the appearance of the case and its’ contents too.
Can I get a single plastic case?
Whilst you are able to source one off cases from GWP (including with full customisation options) this is obviously less cost effective than if you required multiple cases.
Can I add branding and / or print to plastic cases?
The majority of plastic cases can be enhanced with branding of varying types. The smooth surface areas allow for easy application of labels, as well as direct screen or digital printing onto the surfaces. For larger volume requirements, you can also take advantage of in-mould labelling (whereby a design is added into the case material during manufacture).
What alternatives are there to plastic cases?
Whilst there is a significant variation with regards to performance, pricing and intended use within the broad category of plastic cases (everything from a small plastic carry case through to ultra-tough waterproof containers), there are other alternatives that can be considered. This includes aluminium cases for transit and storage, as well as custom built flight cases which can be tailored to the exact size / spec you require.
Can plastic cases be recycled?
There is a good chance that your plastic travel cases can be recycled at the end of their usable lifespan (although it is important to bear in mind that due to their material and construction they typically last for many, many uses). A large number are manufactured from Polypropylene, which can be recycled at specialist recycling centres.
