UK Suppliers of Protective Plastic Briefcases
Hofbauer Megabag cases combine traditional design with advanced protection
Whilst providing a classic look (similar to a briefcase), the Hofbauer Megabag cases utilise modern technology to provide a deceptively high level of protection.
Available in 4 sizes and 2 colours (both of which have proven to be the most popular for carry cases of this style), the unique double wall construction provides an air cushion to protect the contents within. The cases are also scratch resistant, easy to use and lockable.
Please see below for the full range of Megabag plastic cases.

Other Hofbauer, WAG and branded plastic case options
Although there are only 3 other cases that provide a similar double wall construction to Megabag – the Hofbauer Quantum T and Multibag ranges, plus the WAG Heavy cases – there are a number of other protective cases that can perform a similar function.
All of these are available for your business to source – and customise – through GWP.

Cases with classic appearance and modern performance
Although the appearance of the Hofbauer Megabag case takes a traditional form – akin to a briefcase design – the protection levels that it offers compares favourably with much modern looking plastic cases.
The cases are manufactured using a blow moulding technique that creates an “air cushion” between the double walled construction. This provides additional protection for the contents, making Megabag cases a mid to high duty choice (above most plastic carry cases, but below the ultra-durable waterproof case options).
However, there are a number of other benefits that this manufacturing process provides.
The cases can carry loads up to 40Kg with no problems. Megabag also features large feet for stability, as well as a living hinge for ease of use. The surface is also scratch resistant – ideal if the case is to be taken out on site – and the cases can even be locked with an optional, combination padlock.
Form and function
There are other benefits of using Megabag cases too.
The handle is particularly comfortable to use and will also fold flat into a recess for improved storage during transit. The large catches are also simple to operate, whilst keeping the contents of the case secure – and these catches can also be specified in contrasting colours.
The colours available, whilst limited, add to the classic look of the cases. In fact, although the cases are incredibly strong, their appearance can make them suitable for use in presenting samples in specific markets.
Hofbauer Megabag cases can also be customised by GWP too, particular by using case inserts or foam lining.
Your foam inserts will not only be a perfect fit for your chosen case, but will also be tailored exactly to the contours of the products, tools or parts you are planning to transport in them.
All of this adds up to create a plastic case that is deceptively tough, has a distinct appearance, and is suitable for most budgets as well.
Hofbauer Megabag FAQs
Frequently asked questions regarding these plastic carry cases
Although – or perhaps because – there are few cases like Megabag available in today’s market, there tends be a number of questions regarding them.
You can see common questions / answers below but, if you still need further information, you can contact a member of the GWP team using the details at the bottom of the page.
What size Megabag cases are available?
Megabag cases are available in a range of 4 sizes, with the smallest being 410 x 300 x 140 mm, and the largest 480 x 355 x 180 mm. Please note these are the internal dimensions (external dimensions can be seen in the Megabag size guide table).
Are Megabag cases available in different colours?
Megabag cases are only available in two colours – black and light grey / silver. It is possible to specify bespoke colours, but these are subject to (high) minimum order volumes.
What are Megabag cases manufactured from?
Megabag cases are manufactured from a tough Polypropylene material. The cases are then blow moulded to create a unique double skin construction (unlike injection moulding which creates a single wall design).
Are these cases really as tough as indicated?
The double wall construction of the Megabag cases means they are a great choice for mid to heavy duty applications. The outer surfaces of the cases are also resistant to scratches and scuffs, meaning that they will maintain their appearance for longer.
Would these be a suitable replacement for Peli type cases?
Whilst not offering the same levels of protection of waterproof case such as Peli™, Storm Case™ or Explorer (which also provide full ingress protection from dust and moisture), they are considerably cheaper whilst still providing good levels of protection. GWP will be happy to advise if they are suitable for your intended application.
Can I add foam inserts to my Megabag cases?
Any Megabag case you source from GWP Protective can be provided with custom foam inserts. Tailored to both the case and your products, foam case inserts can provide much improved protection from shock, impact and mishandling, as well as improving organisation and appearance (i.e. if using as a sample case).
What similar cases are there?
There are very few cases that fall in the same bracket as Megabag cases (i.e. spanning between medium and heavy duty use). Hofbauer manufacture the Multibag and Quantum T ranges which use the same double walled construction, and WAG manufacture Heavy cases which utilise a similar design. The only other case utilising this type of design is the Maxado Excellent Solid series.

Free, no obligation quotes and impartial advice on any case
A question we often get asked at GWP is why shouldn’t I just purchase case X direct from the manufacturer. Yet this is a question with multiple valid answers.
For one, if you are not exactly certain of the case you need, then the manufacturer will always look to push you towards one of their protective cases – which may not necessarily be the best for your application. Being independent, GWP don’t do this. Being independent also means that you get a much broader choice by working with GWP.
Besides this, if you also need foam inserts, case manufacturers are frequently not able to offer this or provide much lower quality that GWP would supply. With expertise in foam inserts for more than 25 years, GWP Protective are arguably the UK’s leading foam converter.
When you also consider that you can benefit from truly impartial, unbiased, and trustworthy advice, no obligation quotes on any requirement (even one offs) and personalised levels of service, the choice should be clear.
So, if you would like GWP Protective to help with your plastic case requirement, please get in touch using the details below.
