Protect products / orders during shipping
Regardless of whether you sell industrial parts / components to B2B clients, send consumer goods to individuals, or are part of a multinational supply chain, having items damaged in transit can have a (significant) detrimental impact on your business success.
This is why it is critical that your transit packaging is tailored to your exact requirements, using the optimum material and design to eliminate damage to your goods in transit.
This not only saves you the admin and inconvenience of replacements and returns, but also significantly reduces your costs. The effect on your company’s reputation – and the ability to secure repeat business – is immeasurable too.
Ultimately, successful transit / industrial packaging can be key to your business success.
Make your transport packaging work harder for your business
As manufacturers ourselves, GWP understand the challenges that manufacturing businesses like yours face.
Rising labour costs. Ever shortening deadlines to meet orders. The need for investment in staff and equipment. Logistics. Damage to items in transit. Lack of warehouse space. The list goes on and on.
At GWP Packaging we believe that, rather than being another difficulty to overcome, your packaging should actually help you to mitigate or even completely resolve at lot of these issues.
How?
Well, you can source easy assemble boxes to speed up packing times, reducing your labour costs. Boxes tailored to specific sizes can help to eliminate the cost (and time / process) of secondary packaging, such as void fill and tapes. And you can even reduce your warehouse requirements by having GWP hold your packaging inventory at our warehouse and delivering it on a just in time basis.
These benefits can help you improve efficiency and productivity, reduce your lead times and , ultimately, reduce your ongoing costs.

Transit Packaging FAQs
Common questions on the topic of Transport Packaging
As getting your transit packaging right can have such a huge impact on your business, there are understandably a number of questions on this subject. The below section aims to answer the most common of these.
However, if you cannot find the answer to your specific question, please contact a member of the GWP team on 01793 754 444 or email packaging@gwp.co.uk
Is corrugated cardboard suitable for transit packaging applications?
Corrugated cardboard is widely used by companies of all sizes for their transit packaging. It is cost effective, surprisingly durable, and can be tailored to specific sizes and levels of performance to make it suitable for virtually any product / market.
My shipping costs are excessive – can my transit packaging help?
Using “off the shelf” cardboard boxes in standard sizes can have a surprisingly large impact on your shipping costs. Stock sizes mean you are always selecting a box which is slightly too big and filling the excess space inside with void fill. You are then paying extra to ship this! Custom sized transit packaging (and even switching material grades) can help to resolve this issue.
Can transit packaging really help my staff productivity?
One of the overlooked bottlenecks in terms of manufacturing or fulfilment is that of packing times. Boxes that are slow or difficult to assemble and / or pack can have a negative impact on your staff productivity. Solutions such as easy assemble crash lock boxes, or integral fittings, can alleviate this and help to reduce ongoing labour costs.
Can my transit packaging be printed with logos etc.?
It adds relatively little cost to add one or two colour printing to your transport packaging. Printed transit packaging effectively provides a free form of advertising through your supply chain and can also be used for more practical purposes such as including handling instructions, identification numbers and so on.
What should I use for returnable transit packaging?
Besides single trip corrugated packaging, GWP can also provide a wide range of returnable transit packaging options. This includes durable moulded plastic totes and containers, custom designed Correx® packaging, as well as the new Rapitainer system. As suppliers of these alongside corrugated cardboard options, GWP can provide truly impartial advice on the best solution for your specific application.
Is cardboard transit packaging waterproof?
Whilst corrugated cardboard material itself is not waterproof, it is possible to add a degree of water resistance to your transit packaging by using Liquiguard coating. This will ensure your transit packaging can cope with moisture and being left outside etc, prolonging its lifespan and increasing the protection offered too. GWP can also supply Correx® boxes (effectively plastic cardboard) if completely water resistant packaging is required.
My business has little storage space for packaging, can you help?
Fully assembled transit packaging, whilst time saving, can take up huge amounts of (costly) warehouse space. But GWP can provide a number of solutions for this. Firstly, you can choose to have your cardboard packaging supplied assembled (for quicker packing) or flat (for reduced storage). For businesses with an ongoing requirement, you can also take advantage of a fully managed inventory service, where your packaging is stored at GWP’s warehouse and delivered on a “just in time” basis.
