GWP Protective recommended waterproof equipment case
For a huge range of applications, Peli Storm cases are GWP Protective’s recommended cases. These high-performance, waterproof cases are the optimum solution if you or your business needs to safely transport any expensive, specialist or delicate tools or equipment.
Storm cases are waterproof equipment cases manufactured by Peli (Pelican Products). They are lightweight, injection moulded cases using an HPX resin material. Available in 23 sizes and four colours, Peli Storm cases are watertight (IP67) impact resistant, crush-proof, and highly durable. All Storm cases come with a full lifetime guarantee.
You can enhance any Peli Storm Case you source from GWP in several ways. Options available include bezel kits, dividers, lid organisers and – most usefully – custom foam inserts.
As one of the largest official Storm case UK distributors, you can take advantage of competitive, no-obligation quotes and free expert advice by working with GWP Protective.
Why use Peli Storm cases?
Premium waterproof cases
Originally developed and manufactured by Hardigg™ (who were purchased by and incorporated into the larger Pelican Products in 2009), Storm Case now sits as the premium option within the range of Peli cases (with Protector marketed as the “original” waterproof case and Peli Air being a lighter weight option).
Manufactured using a unique, high-performance material – dubbed HPX resin – Storm cases offer exceptional protection and an arguably more attractive appearance than the other cases in the Peli range.
Available in 23 sizes – including several specialist options specifically for guns and rifles – you can also specify Peli Storm cases in four colours.
All models within the range are fully waterproof (IP67 rated), have undergone extensive testing, and are provided with a manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee.
Large Storm cases also include inline wheels and telescopic handles for easier handling, meaning their use is common in industries including military, emergency services, medical, engineering, specialist manufacturing and many others.
And finally, whilst providing high levels of protection as standard, you can enhance your business’ Storm Cases by including custom foam inserts manufactured from Plastazote® polyethylene foam. These inserts allow for the optimum level of protection for your tools, equipment or products.
Peli Storm case features
A wide range of features as standard compared with similar cases
HPX resin shell
Arguably the most important feature of the Peli Storm Case range is the exterior HPX™ resin outer shell. This material offers protection not only from shock and impact – being exceptionally durable and rugged – but when combined with the O Ring seal, the cases are also wholly watertight.
Vortex pressure relief valve
The vortex pressure relief valve automatically adjusts the pressure between the inside and outside of the case. The ability to equalise pressure is ideal if the case is transported in the hold of an aircraft (or submerged for a prolonged period) and prevents damage to the contents or the case suffering vacuum lock.
Telescopic handle
Larger cases that feature inline wheels also typically come with a built-in telescopic handle (in addition to the other standard handles). The handle allows the cases to be pulled along more easily and makes transporting the heavy kit much more manageable.
Pad-lockable hasps
Peli Storm cases feature padlock-able “hasps”, which allows for a range of locks to be used to secure the case. Locking your Storm case can be particularly important for protecting expensive, sensitive or even dangerous items or for larger cases which may travel in the hold of aircraft (and can be used with TSA locks).
Press and pull latches
The “press and pull” latches, unique to Storm Case, are effortless and comfortable to use but do not become brittle or snap at low temperatures.
Soft grip handles
Peli Storm cases boast double layered, soft grip handles, providing durability whilst maintaining comfort during use.
Inline wheels
The inline wheels on larger cases improve manual handling of the case, even when fully loaded. The wheels, whilst exceptionally durable, can also be replaced if they become damaged.
O ring seal
When combined with the HPX resin shell, the O ring seal means that the entire Storm Case range is dust and watertight. Being IP 67 rated means that Peli Storm cases ensure any tools, products, and equipment are protected.
Custom Peli Storm cases
Improve the performance of your Storm equipment cases with a range of options
Fully bespoke foam inserts – UK manufactured using Plastazote – can be added to any Peli Storm Case. These inserts can minimise transit damage, protecting your items.
Printing
You can add various print and branding to Storm cases. Options include adding logos and graphics through screen or digital printing or using adhesive vinyl.
Bezels
Plastic or metal bezels for mounting electronics can be added to your Storm cases (using screw fixings) whilst maintaining the IP67 waterproof rating.
Lid organiser
Peli Storm lid organisers can help improve the organisation of items within your cases. Configurable in several ways, they also include a strap for securing laptops.
Shoulder strap
The Peli Storm case shoulder strap fits most cases but is particularly suited to the smaller models. A padded section and length of 106 to 201cm ensures comfortable use.
Padded dividers
Padded dividers are a low-cost option for enhancing your Peli Storm cases. Being configurable to various layouts, they provide essential protection for your items.
Pick N Pluck™
Cubed foam inserts are easy to modify and provide a low-cost, semi-bespoke foam insert. The foam consists of multiple layers for both the case lid and base.

Peli Storm performance and testing
Military standard testing results and accreditations
Peli Storm cases have undergone extensive testing to military standards (partly due to their Hardigg heritage).
Accreditations include extensive drop testing, falling dart (impact), vibration (loose cargo) and vibration (sweep) tests. The cases are also IP67 rated, having undergone testing for simulated rainfall and immersion (1 metre for 1 hour).
All of these tests are complemented by a full manufacturer’s lifetime guarantee (as found on all Peli™ Cases too). The guarantee means that should you damage your cases in any way – a feat in itself – they are replaced or repaired free of charge. So besides reducing the costs incurred through transit damage, the free repairs/replacements also ensure minimised “lifetime” costs when purchasing these cases.

FAQs and additional info
A selection of the most commonly asked questions regarding custom Peli Storm cases with foam inserts
What size Storm cases are there?
The range of Peli Storm cases is available in 23 different sizes. The smallest of these, the iM2050, is 241 x 190 x 108 mm, whilst the largest (Im3075) measures 757 x 528 x 451 mm (please note both dimensions given are for the internal dimensions).
What colour Storm cases are available?
There are four different Peli Storm case colour options. These are black, orange, yellow and olive drab (i.e. a light army green type colour).
Are Storm Cases waterproof?
Storm cases are IP67 rated, meaning they are completely water and dust-proof (even if submerged underwater). The vortex pressure relief valve can also help to equalise pressure if a case is submerged for a prolonged period, making it one of the most advanced watertight cases currently available.
Where are Storm Cases manufactured?
The Peli headquarters is in Torrance, USA, with 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. However, Peli is now a truly global company, with six manufacturing facilities, 23 international sales offices, and multiple advanced case centres, network stations, and service centres worldwide.
Is it possible to have a custom-size Storm Case?
Due to the tooling and manufacturing costs, it is not possible to specify custom Peli Storm case sizes. However, when combined with the range of other options from Peli, Explorer, SKB, Nanuk and Hardigg, you should be able to find a suitably sized case. If not, you may also wish to consider an EXOcase (waterproof flight case).
What are Storm Cases made from?
Peli manufactures Storm Cases using injection moulding techniques and high-performance HPX resin material. This combination not only allows the case to be incredibly strong and resistant to impact but also means the cases are fully watertight (when combined with the O ring seal). They also perform well in cold environments (unlike many other plastic cases).
Do Storm Cases have wheels?
A number of the larger cases in the Peli Storm range have durable inline wheels as standard. These are coupled with a telescopic handle to make these larger cases easier to use. You can see which cases have wheels in this detailed size table.
Can I customise my Storm Cases?
Storm Cases offer excellent customisation potential. Options include standard accessories such as straps, organisers, divider sets, bezel kits and pick and pluck foam inserts. You can specify fully bespoke options, including custom-engineered foam inserts and external print/branding.
What Peli Storm alternatives are there?
Peli themselves offer several Storm case alternatives, including the Peli Protector cases and Peli Air ranges as well as Hardigg Roto-Mould (there is, in fact, much debate concerning Storm Cases vs Pelican). Besides this, other manufacturers, including Explorer, SKB and Nanuk, offer cheap Peli case type options with similar performance and features.
What industries/applications use Storm Cases?
The use of Peli Storm cases is widespread in a vast range of applications and industries. Service engineers, marine and offshore, military/defence, medical, emergency services, broadcasting, expeditions and many other sectors and professions rely on Peli Storm cases to protect their essential equipment.

Custom Storm case options
Besides the range of standard features and accessories, the enhancement that can vastly improve the already impressive performance of Peli Storm cases is specifying bespoke foam inserts.
Created from Plastazote® polyethylene foam and tailored to your products, it is possible to create cushioning protection to precisely calculated levels.
Foam inserts typically eliminate transit damage, reducing the costs of returns, improving end-user satisfaction, enhancing the perception of your business, and ultimately improving sales (i.e. repeat business through reliable supply).
Another benefit of using foam inserts is improvements to the efficiency of your staff or end users.
For example, it is possible to label the foam with laser etched instructions or part numbers. Alternatively, contrasting coloured foams quickly highlight if individual tools, products or equipment are missing from the case. Shadow-boards, as they are commonly known, also help to minimise items being lost or left on site, again reducing the costs of replacements).
As well as foam, however, you can specify external print and branding for the exterior of your Peli Storm Case (and any other waterproof cases available).
Print can be anything from your logo (providing additional brand exposure and awareness) all the way through to adding instructions, batch or part numbers to aid traceability or improve efficiency for you, your employees, or customers.
