Description
More information on lightweight plastic totes
If your business requires a cost-effective handling solution, then lightweight Correx® totes are one of the most cost-effective options.
Whilst not suitable for heavy-duty applications (for which the other Correx® tote containers would be more suited), these lightweight plastic totes are ideal for storing, handling and distributing lighter parts, components, and products.
As such, these containers are widely used in eCommerce fulfilment and order picking applications (alongside Correx® picking bins), where fulfilment staff use them to carry items from storage to packing bays, ready for despatch.
Their ability to be stacked also helps reduce space requirements, whilst being easy to clean makes Correx totes suitable for a range of alternative applications too.
Custom plastic totes
Besides their ease of use and low cost, the other main advantage of these Correx® tote boxes is their flexibility and custom options.
Firstly, you can choose to have the totes manufactured to the specific sizes required by your business. Your choice of size may be to maximise handling efficiency, so they are tailored to specific products or parts, so that they minimise transit costs (i.e. by maximising the load on a single shipment), or so they are compatible with your storage and handling equipment.
Besides sizes, these totes can also be manufactured in a range of colours, as well as including exterior print. You can use printing to add company logos and branding – acting as an advertisement for your business throughout the supply chain – or, on a more practical level, to add safety or handling instructions.
Other options include lids, handles (open or closed design) and a range of inserts. Including divider sets, foam divisions, or vac-formed trays can significantly improve productivity and product protection for manufacturing environments and assembly lines.

FAQs
Common questions on lightweight plastic totes
You may have several questions if you are sourcing plastic crates or tote boxes for your business.
This section covers several of these, but for additional info, please call 01793 754 457 or email correx@gwp.co.uk.
What are lightweight plastic totes used for?
You can use lightweight plastic totes for several differing applications. They are ideal for moving lighter parts around manufacturing and production facilities or for storage on assembly lines. They are also commonly used for order picking and eCommerce fulfilment.
What size plastic totes are available?
The use of Correx® to manufacture these lightweight plastic totes means you can specify them in almost any size (within reason). This size flexibility allows you to tailor them to your available storage space or your products, to maximise transit efficiency or accommodate a specific number of items.
Are these manufactured from moulded plastic?
Lightweight plastic totes are manufactured from Correx®. Correx® is a fluted polypropylene material (also referred to as corrugated plastic or even “plastic cardboard”) that provides good levels of strength and durability and can be fabricated similarly to corrugated cardboard.
Can I add dividers or inserts to these totes?
You can enhance any plastic tote box with various inserts. Options include everything from Correx® division sets, layer pads, vacuum-formed trays, and engineered foam inserts. These can help with product protection during handling and transit and aid in loading and unloading the contents.
Can I specify these plastic totes with lids?
Many options are available for these lightweight plastic totes, including whether to have a lid (and if this should be removable, hinged etc.). Besides this, there are different handle options, colours, external printing, and more.
Can these be used for heavy parts and components?
Due to the thinner material used for these totes (and their single-skin design), they are only really suited to applications where your staff do not handle much weight. There are medium-duty handling and storage totes, heavy-duty containers, and moulded plastic Euro containers for heavier-duty requirements.

Free quotes, advice, and design of any lightweight plastic storage boxes and handling crates
Most businesses supplying plastic tote boxes usually offer a range of standard-sized containers, often manufactured with moulded plastic (such as Euro Containers). Whilst these can perform well, you are always limited by the size options and other fixed parameters (such as weight, costs etc.).
However, by working with GWP to create custom Correx® totes, you have complete control over the finished container. Strength, sizes, weights, colours, inserts, lids and more can all be specified.
