Reusable packaging inserts and dunnage
Dividers, trays and foam dunnage to improve your handling
If you are looking to customise and improve the performance of any tote box, container or tray that you currently use (or are looking to source), GWP can help.
Your business can specify a wide range of container inserts and dunnage options, each designed and manufactured to your exact requirements.
Specialist foam inserts and dunnage for enhanced protection
Besides the range of Correx® plastic dividers and inserts for your containers, if you require additional protection for delicate parts or equipment, you can also source a range of foam dunnage.
These foam inserts, Plastazote® dividers and other foam dunnage options provide additional cushioning protection for delicate parts during handling, transit, or storage.
Outer container options
Correx plastic tote containers and handling products
Besides the range of insert options available from GWP Correx®, you can simultaneously source your outer handling totes and any inserts you require. Doing so has benefits in terms of cost efficiencies, compatibility (i.e. better fit) and reducing your admin.

Reasons for using container inserts, dividers sets and dunnage
Perhaps surprisingly, there are three distinct and important benefits to using container inserts and reusable plastic dunnage.
In essence, these are improving your business productivity and efficiency, enhancing the protection of your parts, products or components during handling and transit, and reducing the costs associated with your handling processes.
Realising these benefits can frequently be achieved using any of the many insert options available to your business (or even using them in combination). Many of these can be further customised to match your required sizes and include additional specialist properties.

Improving productivity and efficiency with container inserts
The key benefit of using container inserts and divider sets is that it allows for the safe, easy, and efficient handling of multiple items within a single outer tote.
Using Euro container inserts, for example, allows individual staff and operatives within your manufacturing environment to move more components or products in a single trip. The principle also applies to shipping items between your sites or your customers.
For line-side assembly in particular, segmenting components or items can also help improve productivity in several ways.
Using plastic container inserts allows for easier access to the components within the tote than if they were simply loaded in. It also allows “at a glance” checking of stock to see how many items are left and when production staff require more to maintain production.
Finally, using an adjustable insert such as Correx® plastic box dividers also allows the reuse of the cell divisions for various sizes of components. This flexibility can help segment different items within a single container or reuse the same division sets across multiple production runs.
Enhance part protection and reduce damage to items during usual handling processes
Small or delicate components or products can often become damaged. Damage is particularly common during transit but can also happen during usual manual handling processes.
In fact, it can frequently be the case that components can damage themselves if they are simply placed into containers in large numbers (i.e. without using container inserts), colliding with each other when being moved.
By eliminating this movement within the outer container during handling and transit, Correx® dividers, foam inserts and other custom packaging inserts can vastly reduce or even eliminate damaged items.
The impact of this can be huge.
Critically, the cost associated with damaged components written off due to becoming unusable will decrease, directly impacting your operational profits.
It can also improve manufacturing times if you experience delays due to the number of damaged components at certain stages of your production cycle.
Further benefits and cost savings for your business
Besides the reduction in costs your business can expect from improved productivity and decreased damage, there are several other ways Correx® and reusable packaging inserts can positively impact your costs.
For example, the durable and robust nature of virtually all plastic box inserts and dividers ensures longevity over hundreds of trips (unlike single-trip packaging inserts manufactured from corrugated cardboard).
Besides this, as most container inserts are easily cleaned further boosts their lifespan, ultimately lowering the overall costs to your business.
Suppose you select one of the adjustable options (Correx® dividers being the prime example). The dividers can easily be adapted even if components or production cycles change, eliminating the possibility of them becoming redundant (as can happen with vac-formed trays or foam dividers).

Commonly asked questions regarding reusable container inserts
While selecting the totes and handling containers you require for your business may be relatively straightforward, choosing suitable dunnage, inserts, or dividers can often be much more difficult.
As such, you can see several of the most frequently asked questions on this topic here. If you still have further questions, however, you can contact a member of the GWP team at 01793 754 457 or via email at email@example.com.
What types of inserts are available?
There are four main types of container insert/divider available. These are Correx®-based inserts (which include division sets, layer pads and custom-designed items), foam dunnage, moulded plastic inserts (such as vacuum-formed trays) and single trip options (i.e. corrugated cardboard inserts).
Can reusable packaging inserts help improve productivity?
Reusable packaging inserts such as Correx® dividers, foam inserts and even layer pads can significantly impact your business’s productivity and efficiency. It allows multiple items to be more easily transported in a single container (maximising available space) and quicker stock checking.
I have delicate and sensitive parts - can container inserts help?
Minimising the movement of parts within the outer container, inserts, and dividers can help to reduce damage caused by mishandling significantly. However, foam or Bubble board dividers can provide extra protection for especially sensitive or delicate parts (or even those with specialist surface finishes that may get scuffed / scratched).
Are plastic box inserts suitable for static-sensitive items?
If you are in the electronics industry – or manufacture parts or equipment that heavily utilises PCBs or other similar items – you will be well aware of the potential damage caused by static charges. Your inserts and dividers can help with this, with options for a wide range of ESD-safe foams and conductive materials (including Corstat® and Corriplast).
Can I have dividers and foam inserts in different colours?
You can specify nearly all the different insert types in various colours (except for ESD-safe options). Both Correx® and foam materials are available in a wide range of colours, and you can even specify vacuum-formed trays in various hues (subject to order volumes).
Is it best to source containers and inserts together?
Sourcing your handling containers and the dividers or inserts together can provide several benefits. Advantages include being more cost-effective, reducing lead times, minimising admin and ordering processes, and improving compatibility and fit. However, GWP can create inserts for containers you may have already purchased from other sources.
How can I decide which packaging inserts to use at my business?
Which insert or divider option is best for your business will depend on many factors. The size, shape, fragility, and value of your parts or components. Your budget. The types of handling and environment they will experience. The durability required. And this is before even considering specific requirements relevant to certain industries (such as medical).
