Description
More info on Corstat® Chip Boxes
Manufactured from Corstat® conductive fibreboard, GWP Conductive Chip Boxes provide a cost-effective method of shipping micro-chips and small electronic devices.
Available in 6 stock sizes to cover the majority of standard components / chips (and reduce upfront costs – no tooling required), they are available from stock in as little as 48 hours.
They can also be supplied with soft pink anti-static foam or a high density pin stick grade conductive foam to suit your specific requirement and provide further protection from ESD.
However, it is also possible for your business to specify completely bespoke chip boxes – taking advantage of custom sizes, different materials (e.g. Corriplast®) or even adding your own print and branding to the exterior surfaces.
Why use Corstat® Chip Boxes?
Microchips can be particularly susceptible to electro static discharge (ESD). Damage from static can significantly shorten their lifespan or cause them to become completely unusable.
Corstat® Chip Boxes have been designed specifically to protect microchips from this.
Creating a “Faraday cage” effect, the chip boxes channel any static around the outside of the box, protecting the contents within.
The inclusion of foam inserts also provides an additional level of protection, not only from ESD but also from physical mishandling. This dual level of protection ensures that any microchips you are storing, handling, or transporting will remain free from damage, reducing any potential costs to your business.

FAQs
Common queries about Chip Boxes
Please see below for the most frequently asked questions about the Corstat® Chip Box range.
What size chip boxes are available?
Corstat® Chip Boxes are available in a range of 6 sizes, the smallest being 90 x 30 x 15 mm and the largest 180 x 80 x 15 mm. Whilst this sounds like a relatively small choice of options, this typically covers the majority of sizes required by microchip manufacturers. However, bespoke sizes are also available as required.
Can chip boxes be used for larger components?
Chip boxes are designed specifically for the safe transit, handling, and storage of microchips (often being referred to as “microchip packaging”). If you require anti-static packaging for larger items such as PCBs or other components, the range of Corstat® Component Boxes and Transit Packs provide a range of suitable sizes / configurations.
What foam options are available?
As standard, Corstat® chip boxes can be specified with either soft antistatic foam or a high density pin stick grade conductive foam. However, specialist materials including Ethafoam, Stratocell and Plastazote are also available for specific requirements.
I only need a low volume of chip boxes – is this possible?
Corstat® Chip Boxes are held in stock at GWP and sold through a Europe wide network of distributors. This allows for lead times as low as 48 hours, but also for complete flexibility in terms of order volumes too (with both very high and very low easily catered for).
