ESD pink foam
Pink anti-static foam is an excellent option for protecting your ESD (electrostatic discharge) items, being used in the majority of standard Corstat® packaging.
Pink anti-static foam is a Polyurethane foam with an anti-static agent added during manufacture. It is dyed pink to easily identify it as an electrostatic discharge (ESD) safe material. The foam both dissipates static charges and cushions components against shock and impact. It is ideal for protecting sensitive electronic components from static discharge and physical damage.
GWP are both the UK leaders in conductive packaging and one of the largest independent foam converters. This combination of expertise means that, whatever your foam requirement, you can source a solution precisely tailored to your specific application and fully compatible with your choice of outer container.

FAQs
What is pink anti-static foam?
Pink anti-static foam is a polyurethane foam that is chemically enhanced with an anti-static agent (surfectant) and coloured with a pink dye for identification. Its key benefit is that it does not generate static when it rubs against itself. It is typically used for single-trip shipping.
How does anti-static foam work?
Manufacturers introduce an additive, such as Glycerol Monostearate (or a similar chemical), during the extrusion phase of material production. This additive then slowly migrates to the edges of the foam before forming lines on the surface. One end of the microscopic anti-static molecule protrudes from the material edge and draws moisture from the ambient air, creating a conductive path for current to pass.
How does pink anti-static foam prevent static damage?
Pink anti-static foam’s unique properties allow it to slowly dissipate electrostatic charges generated by adjacent components, the component itself, or even human handlers during transit. It also provides physical protection from shock, impact and vibration.
Why is anti-static foam pink?
Manufacturers typically colour anti-static foam with a pink dye so end users can quickly identify it as anti-static. Differentiation from standard foam grades ensures that packing staff package products requiring ESD protection using the correct foam.
Is pink ESD foam affected by humidity or atmospheric conditions?
Due to the way the foam works, performance is actually enhanced rather than inhibited by increased atmospheric humidity. This behaviour makes pink ESD suitable for a range of applications where other foams may be less effective.
