Bespoke, tailored solutions for even the most demanding of market sectors
Working in industrial sectors – or as part of a manufacturing supply chain – your packaging will need to protect and transport everything from spare parts through to semi-finished and finished products.
Yet, regardless of whether these are small or large, light-weight or heavy, intricate and fragile or large and bulky, using transit packaging that is tailored to your specific requirements can provide you with numerous advantages.
Custom industrial packaging will most certainly help to reduce (or completely prevent) damage caused during transit (and the cost associated with returns, replacements etc.).
But it can also reduce costs in other ways. Bespoke industrial packaging can help productivity through quicker packing times (such as bulk packaging), which has a knock-on effect on labour costs.
Using pallet optimised boxes can also make maximum use of available space, reducing shipping costs (as can custom sizes transit packaging in general).
And if you take advantage of services such as rationalising your inventory or using a just in time supply, this can result in even greater long-term cost reductions.
Custom industrial packaging design process
So, what is the process for creating your bespoke industrial packaging?
The first step of any design process will be a consultative meeting with you and any colleagues involved in the consideration process. This is to establish the technical and commercial requirements and review the product(s) to be packaged.
This will then allow a full corrugated packaging design process to be undertaken by an award-winning team, closely following your brief and ensuring every requirement is considered and accounted for.
Following this, a pre-production sample is supplied to prove each new industrial packaging design concept will be commercially viable and suitable for the various handling / environments it will encounter.
This approach ensures that costly mistakes and errors are completely avoided before committing to full runs (and tooling) of your chosen industrial packaging solution.
Finally, your chosen industrial corrugated packaging will be manufactured in a state-of-the-art production facility, guaranteeing the highest quality throughout.
This process ensures that your industrial packaging will be right first time, every time, eliminating costly mistakes and missed deadlines.

Industrial Packaging FAQs
Common questions on the topic of industrial packaging
Looking to source industrial packaging for a new product? Been let down by your existing packaging supplier? Or simply have some questions regarding the types of industrial packaging available?
The below aims to provide a number of answers to common questions but, should you not find the information you require, then please get in touch.
What is the definition of industrial packaging?
There are many competing definitions of industrial packaging, but in effect the term relates to any form of packaging (e.g. corrugated cardboard, Correx® or moulded plastic, timber crates, drums etc.) that is used for transporting and / or storing goods during manufacturing, or as part of a supply chain. This is in contrast to consumer or retail packaging, which is used for both promotion and shipping to the end user.
Is corrugated cardboard suitable for industrial packaging?
Corrugated cardboard packaging is a great choice for industrial packaging applications. It allows for a wide variance in terms of cost, sizes, strength, and performance, with everything from single wall lightweight boxes all the way through to Tri wall packaging that offers comparable strength to wooden crates.
Will custom industrial packaging help with transit damage I’m experiencing?
Industrial packaging can be tailored to provide very specific levels of performance. This means that, by analysing your products, packing methods, shipping conditions and other factors, it is possible to specify materials and designs that provide the optimum level of protection for you. This can often reveal additional cost savings in many instances too.
Can my industrial packaging products be printed?
Your industrial packaging can be printed with simple logos and blocks of colours, providing free advertising throughout your supply chain. Besides this promotional aspect however, you can also add handling instructions, part or batch numbers and other details that may prove useful.
Can you supply timber crates?
GWP do not manufacture timber or wooden crates ourselves, but are happy to source these as part of a larger requirement (e.g. if you also require additional packaging and inserts etc.). If you require timber crates only, we would recommend that you speak with a specialist supplier of these.
I need waterproof industrial packaging – can you help?
Whilst corrugated industrial packaging is not waterproof, it can be made resistant to water through the application of a Liquiguard waterproof coating. Other coatings also allow for anti-static and corrosion inhibiting properties to be added. Alternatively, you can source plastic, returnable transit packaging for use in conditions where corrugated would not be suitable.
