ALC boxes
Attached lid containers (ALC) are a great choice if you need to balance part protection with handling and supply chain efficiency.
Attached lid containers are heavy-duty plastic tote boxes with lids. The two-part, hinged lids protect contents from dust, damage and moisture. When closed, the lids also allow the ALC boxes to stack safely, maximising transit and storage space. Durable plastic material also enhances protection and longevity, whilst integral hand holes help aid manual handling.
At GWP Correx®, we can not only supply a wide range of industry-standard ALC containers, but can also tailor them to your specific requirements. Your attached lid totes can include bespoke inserts, layer pads, foam dunnage and divider sets, and are also available in ESD (electrostatic discharge) safe versions.
Please note: Correx® is a registered and/or unregistered trademark of Corplex Plastics UK Ltd, its parent, subsidiaries and/or affiliates.

FAQs
What are croc boxes and alligator containers?
Whilst often referred to as an ALC box (an acronym for attached lid container), these containers are also known as croc boxes and alligator containers. These names come from the format that most common lids take, with the interlocking teeth of these lids resembling a crocodile snapping shut, creating a secure seal to protect the contents.
Are there different types of lids available?
There are two main lid options for attached lid containers. These are simple hinged lids that open from one side of the container, or interlocking hinged lids. The latter allows for much easier opening of the lid and access to the container’s contents, with the interlocking teeth also providing a secure closure.
Are attached lid containers available with inserts and dividers?
You can add a range of inserts to containers with attached lids to further improve their usability and performance. Options include Correx® dividers, foam inserts, and custom vacuum-formed trays tailored to the shape and size of your components. Bubble board or textile dividers can also help to protect delicate or decorative surfaces of parts and components. Besides protection, inserts also assist your production and packing teams in loading and unloading the tote boxes, helping minimise handling damage.
What sizes of ALC containers are available?
ALC containers are available in standard sizes that conform to the industry-standard Euro footprint (400×300 and 400x600mm). These dimensions make them compatible with most standard pallets, racking, and automated handling systems. As a result, they can help to minimise both storage and transport costs at your business.
Are there anti-static attached lid containers available?
A range of moulded, ESD-safe euro boxes and containers with lids is available. The SSI Schaefer EF Series are the most popular, providing exceptional protection from ESD (electrostatic discharge). These containers minimise static damage to electronics and other sensitive parts and products.
