Attractive appearance for sales meetings / pitches
Xtrabag cases are predominantly used as plastic sample cases, for a number of reasons.
Available in 5 sizes and 4 colours (with custom hues available to match your brand – subject to order volumes), the range of combinations makes Xtrabag a versatile option that is suited to most products / samples.
Translucent lids can also be specified (and combined with different coloured bases) to further enhance appearance and allow for easy viewing of samples / contents.
The materials and moulding processes used also results in a high-quality surface finish, perfect for adding labels or even printing directly onto the case. Adding branding and logos onto the Xtrabag cases provides a professional appearance which can help impress potential clients and aid brand recall too.
And of course, any Xtrabag case can be customised with bespoke foam inserts, further protecting and presenting your sales teams’ samples.
Besides the excellent aesthetic appearance, Xtrabag cases also offer a range of usability benefits.
This includes easy to use catches, moulded feet so the cases can be stood upright as well as led flat, and an integrated handle for comfortable handling.
Durability and robustness for service engineers / product protection
The range of features inherent on the Xtrabag cases makes them suitable for a much wider range of applications than just sample cases however.
In fact, Hofbauer Xtrabag cases are widely used for service / field engineers to safely transport equipment onto site, as well as for the safe storage of various devices (including medical kit and equipment – see a full list in this Xtrabag buying guide).
The durable Polypropylene used on the smaller cases offers excellent protection, whereas the even tougher ABS used on the larger cases also ensures greater strength and structural rigidity.
Foam inserts can be used here too for added protection of the items within, as well as helping to organise items and aid quicker retrieval of specific tools / items
The interlocking hinges also ensures a long lifespan, even with repeated use, and the snap shut catches are also reliable yet easy to use. In fact, the features that make Xtrabag easy to use as a sample case, are also a benefit when transporting tools or equipment too.
This even extends to the branding options – having engineers on site with printed logos visible on their cases effectively provides a free form of advertising.
Effectively, Xtrabag cases provide your business with an attractive, versatile plastic case option that can be used for a wide range of applications and industries.

What size Xtrabag cases are available?
Xtrabag cases are available in a range of 5 sizes, the smallest being 252 x 202 x 44 (mm) and the largest being 588 x 475 x 156 (length x width x depth). Although this is a relatively small range of sizes compared with some alternative sample cases, the cases available are suitable to cover a wide range of applications. You can see a full list of Xtrabag sizes here.
Can I get Xtrabag in custom colours?
Xtrabag cases are available in black, blue, and light grey colours as standard. Translucent lids are also available and can be combined with one of the coloured options for the base (or you can have a completely transparent case). Custom colours are also available on request, but these are subject to minimum order quantities.
Is it possible to add branding to Xtrabag cases?
Xtrabag cases provide a number of branding options. Due to the smooth, flat surfaces of the cases’ exterior walls, it is very easy to add labels or vinyl graphics, or even print directly onto the case itself.
What material are these cases made from?
The smaller 3 sizes in the Xtrabag range (100, 200 and 300 case models) are manufactured from tough Polypropylene material. The larger 2 cases however (models 400 and 500) are produced from an even stronger ABS material. This is mainly due to the additional size requiring extra strength, but all of the sizes available provide excellent levels of durability, and rigidity.
Can I have custom foam inserts in my Xtrabag cases?
GWP Protective would almost always recommend enhancing your plastic samples cases with custom foam inserts, and Xtrabag is no exception. The addition of engineered case inserts improves protection of your items in transit, can help identify parts or tools more quickly (even when they are missing), and the foam can even carry your company’s branding with laser etched logos etc.
I’ve seen Xtrabag cases with translucent lids – are these available?
Translucent lids area available for Xtrabag cases, alongside the standard 3 colours (black, grey, and blue). The translucent lids are a great option for showcasing products in sales pitches, but also means Xtrabag cases can be used as value added packaging for retail (such as tool sets, electronic equipment etc.).
Will Xtrabag protect from water / dust?
Xtrabag cases will provide a reasonable level of protection from both water and dust, being perfect for everyday use. However, if you require the complete elimination of dust / moisture ingress (e.g. for very expensive / specialist equipment), then one of the heavier duty waterproof cases are likely to be more suitable
