What is a transport case?

Will a transport case protect its contents against being dropped?
Many transport cases provide excellent protection from mishandling. Their tough exterior absorbs shocks, impacts, and vibrations when in transit, protecting their contents. Some transport cases, such as those manufactured using timber, provide less protection than heavy-duty moulded plastics.
Are transport cases waterproof?
Most heavy-duty transport cases offer protection from dust and water ingress (keeping contents clean and dry). Cases have what is known as an IP rating (standing for ingress protection), which measures how resistant the case is to water and particles.
Are transport cases available in custom sizes?
Most plastic transport cases, such as roto moulded or waterproof case options, are available in an extensive number of standard sizes. This range usually allows you to select an appropriate-sized option. However, flight cases and GRP cases are available in custom sizes (up to 8 metres long), making them ideal for especially large or unusually shaped items.
Can foam inserts be added to transport cases?
Transport cases can offer even greater protection with the addition of custom foam inserts. The foam can be tailored to a specific part, product or equipment and provides cushioning protection (i.e. absorbing shocks, vibrations, etc.).
