Cricklade Christmas lights event 2022 (dates, times and info)

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions, you can attend the Cricklade Christmas lights event this year. The popular event is on Saturday, 3rd December 2022, with festivities commencing at 6.00 pm. You can experience a range of attractions, food and craft stalls, and a visit from Santa!

In previous years, the Cricklade Christmas lights switch-on event has proven extremely popular, evidenced by a continuing rise in turnout each year.

The last year that the event took place (the seemingly distant past of 2019) was considered a success enjoyed by all – especially the children, of which a record number visited Santa and his Grotto.

Previous events have also included a child-friendly talent show, in which children from the local schools participated to win prizes (the first-place award included a gift voucher for the lucky winner to spend as they chose). Various performing artists (including the Cricklade Band) have also been on hand to entertain the adults too.

More highlights include carol services, children’s magic shows, lantern parades, the local Community choir, Santa visits, and Anna and Elsa (the cast from Frozen).

Although the Cricklade Christmas lights event did not occur for the past two years, GWP continued to help and support the local community during this time.

In previous years, GWP sponsored the Cricklade Band’s presence at the lights switch-on and continued this in 2020, even with no event.

When organisers decided to cancel the festivities again in 2021, GWP instead chose to become the band’s “corporate sponsor”. GWP have recently renewed this support for 2023.
