Cricklade Community Lights Team

In addition to the Cricklade Scouts, the Cricklade Community Lights team – a group of volunteers plan, organise and hold the annual event. The annual switch-on which sequentially includes a festive carol service creates a festive atmosphere whereby members of the local community gather to share the experience.

The planning for this year’s event began in July and was held at The Barista by which members of the public were also invited to come along with support and suggestions for the event.

The fun filled event will include a carol service, live music or talent act, a choir and a visit from Santa for the little ones each year – consequently over a thousand people congregate to the Cricklade High Street to celebrate the Christmas spirit.

Previous Years

The success and popularity of this event from its start has been highlighted in the rise of turnout numbers each year.

Last year’s event (2016) was considered an ultimate success enjoyed by all – especially the children whereby a record number of children visited Santa and his Grotto – proving to be a major attraction.

The event also included a child friendly talent show in which children from the local schools participated in the show for prizes. The first place prize included a Toys’R’us voucher for the lucky winner to spend as they chose. Entertainment for the adults in last year’s festive activities included The Cricklade Band who are set to attend again this year.

More highlights from previous years have seen: children’s entertainment, carol services, children’s magic shows, The Cricklade Band, the local Community choir and visits from Santa, Anna and Elsa (the cast from Frozen).
