Investment at GWP Packaging
GWP Packaging invests in new £1m Rotary Die Cutter
GWP Packaging is pleased to announce a new £1m investment in new die cutting and pallet strapping equipment at our Wiltshire packaging facility.
The newly installed, state of the art Rotary Die Cutter will more than double our printing and die cutting capacity, as well as enabling the printing of high quality four colour graphics. The new Strapping machine in turn will also bring about improved security and stability of finished pallets of products.
Enhanced appearance & branding
One of the key features of the new Die Cutter – the Latitude P1630 – is the four colour flexographic print capability. This enables us to print high quality graphics and decorative detail in house, thus allowing for improved management of quality and lead-times.
The machine’s ceramic rollers produce a much finer resolution and density of print than that found on traditional printing equipment.
Sheets are transferred through the machine using a vacuum feed system to stop print tracking that often occurs with a traditional roller system, and the Latitude also ensures a far more accurate print to die cut registration than was previously achievable.
The result of this is the ability to produce retail ready packaging, point of sale material and FSDUs (free standing display units) that offer exceptional aesthetic appearance as well as structural integrity and performance.

Speed and efficiency
Besides the enhanced capabilities, the new machinery is also fast; handling 8500 sheets per hour.
Another key benefits is that it also has a larger sheet size capacity (3m x 1.6m) than any of our existing equipment, allowing for larger format packaging to produced quickly and efficiently with no compromise on quality.
The Emmepi PR-219 2L pallet press and strapping line automates the process for compressing and strapping pallets. This greatly improves the appearance of the finished pallet and increases stability.
Besides this however, the space-saving nature of the new line has significantly improved work flow at our factory, moving finished pallets directly to the storage facility.
This has further enhanced the efficiency of our JIT inventory service, allowing further reductions in the required warehouse space required by our clients for their packaging supplies.
GWP Investing in the future
The new investment in equipment and technology at our Cricklade site, following on from the purchase of a Zund G3 plotter earlier in the year, comes on the back of our most successful 12 months of trading.
David Pedley, CEO of GWP Group, said;
The strong growth that we’ve seen over the last few years has lead to an increase in both the demand and the range of services our customers want. This significant investment will enable us to maintain our fast turnaround times and renowned reliability as we grow. Being able to offer four colour high quality printing in-house and the ability to handle larger sheet sizes, will enable us to offer our customers a wider range of services and will open up new markets for us.
