Glass reinforced plastic cases
If you need to ship or store unusually shaped or large items – such as aerospace components, military or medical equipment or other specialist parts and products – GRP containers are a great option.
Manufactured using glass-reinforced plastic, GRP containers can be made in any size up to 8 metres in length without minimum order quantities or tooling costs. GRP cases offer durability, water resistance and overall strength and performance comparable with roto moulded cases. They have an operational lifespan in excess of 20 years. They also allow for a wide range of custom options besides their size, including colours, handles, lifting gear, security features, etc.
All this adds up to make GRP containers particularly suited to military, aerospace and heavy-duty industrial parts and applications.

Benefits of GRP containers
GRP cases, being a fairly unique product, provide a suprising range of benefits.

GRP containers provide an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and are extremely tough and durable. They provide the highest level of protection for your parts, products or equipment.

Unlike other rugged cases, such as roto-moulded options – you can specify a custom-sized GRP case with no tooling charge and no minimum order quantities.

Bespoke sizing can significantly improve the protection provided to your products or components during transit, by preventing excessive movement within the case.

Custom sizes also makes your transportation more efficient – as you are not paying to ship empty space within the case – reducing your costs and environmental impact.

GRP containers are also ideal for very large or unusually shaped items, with the possibility of manufacturing cases up to 8 metres in length.

The cases are hermetically sealed to prevent moisture and dust ingress and remain stable in extreme climates/temperatures.

The properties of the case, coupled with their inherent durability, mean GRP containers typically have an operational lifespan in excess of 20 years. This longevity can reduce your ongoing costs considerably.

Optional features include fire retardant properties, adding a range of handles, lifting eyes, silica ports (to prevent condensation within the case) and even a choice of colours.

These features are in addition to the wide range of internal fittings available through GWP, including bespoke foam inserts.

Why source your ammo storage boxes from GWP?
Many protective case suppliers will simply try and sell the nearest size option, from a range of stocked products. While this allows for quick lead times, it very rarely means you get the most suitable and cost effective case for your specific application.
Our approach is to conduct a full appraisal of your requirements and then suggest the optimum GRP case (or other rugged case option) for your business. Doing this also allows you to benefit from impartial advice on the best options for your application. You can, of course, receive free, no-obligation quotes for exactly what you need.
So, if you would like further details on sourcing GRP cases for your business, please get in touch.
What does GRP stand for?
GRP stands for glass-reinforced plastic. GRP is a composite material commonly used in boatbuilding, automotive body components and street furniture, but it is also suitable for manufacturing heavy-duty, rugged cases.
How are GRP containers made?
GRP, consisting of glass fibre matting and thermoplastic resin, can be moulded or formed into shape. Moulded cases require tooling. Alternatively, the fibreglass can be ‘laid up’ over a substrate to form a laminate with a different material (such as a heavy-duty corrugated). This option requires no tooling. However, either process creates an extremely strong and rigid structure with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
Are GRP containers as tough as roto moulded cases?
GRP containers offer protection, strength and general performance comparable to rotationally moulded cases. However, their main benefit is that it is possible to specify custom sizes, which can help improve protection in transit further.
How long do GRP containers last?
GRP containers typically have an operational lifespan in excess of 20 years. Whilst this can vary depending on the conditions they encounter, it makes them ideal for the long-term storage of parts and equipment.
What size GRP cases are there?
GWP can manufacture GRP cases at the specific size that you require. The smallest case is approximately 1 meter cubed, with the largest being approximately 8 metres long.
