Description
More info on Foam Dividers
Foam dividers provide a number of ways to significantly improve the productivity of your business.
For starters, it allows for much faster removal and packing of the outer totes (making them ideal for use on assembly lines or manufacturing environments). Similarly, they can also allow for quick visual checking of stock, ensuring operatives do not run out of parts or components (and halting production).
As with foam container inserts and removable foam trays, using dividers can also make more efficient use of space within the outer tote. By maximising the number of parts that can be safely moved at one time, it reduces the number of trips required and in turn increases efficiency.
Conversely however, it can also stop the handling containers from being overloaded. Not only can this cause damage to the contents but can also make the movement of the totes unsafe.
All of these aspects combine to make a real, tangible difference to the productivity of your staff and overall business.
Reducing damage besides productivity gains
With handling processes – such as moving components, parts or finished products around your factory – there is usually a focus on efficiency. And rightly so.
But what is often overlooked is that damage caused to these items by mishandling has a serious negative impact on your business’ profitability.
When manufacturing high value goods, the devil is in the detail. Quite often, a small surface scratch can result in a product be rejected or returned. This leads to written off stock, delays in production, missed orders & significant extra costs. If damaged products reach your customers, the cost of damaged reputation to your hard-earned brand must be factored in.
As a result, more and more manufacturers are turning to foam dividers and other foam dunnage to protect components during the manufacturing process.
By securing the contents within the outer container, movement is minimised, which in turn reduces damage. The dividers can also prevent the totes being overloaded, add a level of cushioning protection from shock / impact, and help prevent surface scratches / marring thanks to the smooth, non-abrasive surfaces.
So, by including foam dividers within your handling totes, line-side packaging and supply chain containers, you can not only minimise any damage, but help that all important staff productivity as well.

FAQs
Common questions about foam dividers
Foam – including dividers – can be a complicated topic. That’s why the following section sets out answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.
But… if you still ca’t find what you need, please contact a member of the GWP team who will be happy to help.
Will these foam dividers fit my tote containers?
Foam dividers can be manufactured to be a perfect fit for your existing tote containers (or indeed any form of outer packaging). You can also source both dividers / inserts and totes together from GWP, guaranteeing the highest level of fit and compatibility between the two.
I’m getting a lot of damage – will these help?
Foam dividers can help to prevent damage caused during handling in your factory or whilst in transit. The foam offers a level of cushioning protection (unlike plastic Correx® dividers), secures items so that they do not become damaged by colliding with the internal walls of the container or each other, and also is non-abrasive to prevent surface scuffs or marring.
What type of foam is used to make these dividers?
Foam dividers are manufactured from Plastazote® polyethylene foam. Widely used for foam case inserts and other types of foam packaging, Plastazote is incredibly versatile, offers great protection and is easy to convert. This means that your foam dividers will remain cost effective, even when tailored to your specific application.
Can these dividers be made to suit my specific parts?
Foam dividers can be tailored to virtually any sizes, specification and layout. This means that they can be manufactured to generic sizes, or to be perfectly tailored to fit a specific part or component (besides being compatible with the outer container).
Are these foam dividers suitable for use in returnable packaging / supply chain?
Foam dividers are equally suited to being used for lineside applications (i.e. moving parts around within your factory), or as part of a supply chain of returnable packaging between sites / customers.
What external containers are available?
GWP supply a huge range of external handling and tote containers. This includes Correx® totes and trays, SSI Schaefer Euro Containers and even a wide range of ESD safe (anti-static) containers. This is in addition to single trip transit packaging too. All of which can be enhanced with foam container inserts.
