FAQs

What are single wall boxes?
Single-wall boxes are a type of cardboard box made using single-wall corrugated material. Single-wall cardboard consists of three layers of paper. These are the two outer liners and one layer of fluting (the corrugated part). When a packaging manufacturer converts this material into packaging, it becomes a single-walled box.
Is printing available on single-wall boxes?
It is possible to print on single-wall boxes in several ways, as the material provides a suitable substrate for printing. For industrial packaging, this can be as simple as one-colour branding and/or instructions. For eCommerce, postal packaging or even retail display boxes, this can include everything from one-colour logos to full-colour, photographic imagery and designs.
Are single-wall boxes strong enough for shipping my products?
Single-wall boxes are typically suitable for products, parts, or components with a weight of up to 10 kg. However, depending on the box style chosen, this may be slightly more or less. By working with GWP, our team of designers and packaging engineers can advise on the material grade, box design and other features suited to your specific application.
What is the difference between a carton box and a corrugated box?
In simple terms, carton boxes are typically manufactured from a solid cardboard material (also referred to in the packaging industry as solid board). For example, the boxes used for cereals and iPhone packaging. Corrugated boxes are made from cardboard material, featuring visible fluting within the centre.
Should I use stock or custom-sized single-wall boxes?
Whilst often cheaper in the short term, choosing a stock size means you always have to select a box that is slightly larger than you require. This extra space means you are paying to ship fresh air or need to fill the box with additional void-fill materials. Both of these factors increase your ongoing costs.
