James’s father, David, was one of the founding members of the GWP Group, with James following in his footsteps to become an integral part of the management team.
Having completed his studies at Cirencester College, his first role with GWP was in the IT department. By 2008, James had become Operations Manager, having developed a deep understanding across virtually all areas of the business. He also went on to complete a postgraduate certificate in Business Leadership at the University of Gloucester.
Following GWP’s acquisition by Macfarlane Group PLC in 2021, James’s knowledge saw him become Regional Operations Manager for the Southern manufacturing division, being heavily involved in the strategic direction of Macfarlane’s Westbury site.
This experience and knowledge have led James to display a broad yet detailed understanding of the packaging industry, particularly within corrugated, sheet plants, and manufacturing processes, as well as in terms of business leadership and improvement.
Outside of work, James enjoys following motorsport particularly F1 and Endurance racing, playing golf, travelling and spending time with his young family.
