ESD shippers
If your business needs to protect microchips, semiconductors or printed circuit boards (PCBs), Corstat® chip boxes are the market-leading option.
Corstat® chip boxes are a type of carbon-coated cardboard packaging also referred to as ESD (electrostatic discharge) shipper boxes. The coating creates a “Faraday cage” effect, channelling static around the pack’s exterior to protect the contents. They are available in six standard sizes with optional foam inserts.
GWP Conductive is the sole UK manufacturer of Corstat® microchip packaging, PCB packaging boxes and transport boxes for the semiconductor industry. Our packaging experts have specific knowledge and vast experience of the requirements for protecting electronics from both physical and electrostatic damage.

FAQs
What size chip boxes are available?
Corstat® chip boxes are available in six sizes, ranging from 90 x 30 x 15 mm to 180 x 80 x 15 mm. Whilst this sounds like a relatively small choice of options, this typically covers the majority of sizes required by microchip manufacturers. However, bespoke sizes are also available as needed.
Are chip boxes suitable for larger components?
Chip boxes are designed specifically for the safe transit, handling, and storage of semiconductors and microchips (often referred to as “microchip packaging”). If you require anti-static packaging for larger items such as PCBs or other components, the Corstat® component boxes and transit packs offer suitable sizes/configurations.
How do Corstat® chip boxes protect against static?
Corstat® is a carbon coating applied to corrugated cardboard. When using a specific structural design, the coating creates a “Faraday cage” effect that channels the static around the outside of the pack, protecting the contents. The optional anti-static or conductive foam inserts can further protect your items.
What foam options are available for Corstat® chip boxes?
As standard, you can specify Corstat® chip boxes with either soft anti-static foam or a high-density pin-stick grade conductive foam. However, specialist materials, including Ethafoam, Stratocell, and Plastazote, are also available for specific requirements.
Can I purchase a low volume of ESD shippers?
Corstat® chip boxes are held in stock at GWP and sold through a Europe-wide network of distributors. These partners offer lead times as low as 48 hours and complete flexibility in terms of order volumes (with both very high and very low volumes easily catered for).
