Produce trays
Whether you are a packaging buyer for a food distributor or an industrial manufacturer, custom cardboard trays are surprisingly versatile.
Cardboard produce trays are ideal for handling and delivering fresh products and foods. However, their ability to be quickly loaded, stacked, and handled means that corrugated trays are also suited to moving parts, components, tools, and finished products around assembly lines, factories, and your supply chain.
At GWP Packaging, we manufacture your trays in bespoke sizes, carefully selecting the material to provide optimum strength and performance. You can also specify numerous options, including water-resistant coating, print, hand holes and nesting or stacking designs.

What our customers say...

GWP has been one of our main supporters over the past ten years, supplying us with boxes and providing other support as well. We really appreciate their help. The boxes make life so much easier for us when organising the various donations of food and essentials that we receive, as well as helping to transport these to our distribution centres as required.
Cher Smith MBE | Manager | Swindon Food Collective

A very friendly team who are able to supply narrow width multi-point glued cardboard shelf ready cases that I’ve been unable to source elsewhere. They have provided excellent technical support on complex design projects across a wide range of finishes and materials (not just cardboard…correx and foam too).
Saffy Allen | Google review

We’re really grateful to GWP for coming up with the idea for our boxes and cardboard trays. We’ve struggled for some time with inappropriate boxes that were often breaking. The new box design is great, it’s really comfortable to use and very durable.

FAQs
What are cardboard trays?
Cardboard trays are effectively open-topped boxes, allowing for quick loading and unloading of items. Their typical use is for the transit and display of fresh produce (e.g., fruit, veg, flowers). Trays are supplied fully built or flat for easy assembly with no glue or taping required.
Are cardboard trays stackable?
The design of most cardboard trays typically incorporates sturdy sides and integral stacking corners. As such, trays offer excellent stacking strength and performance when made from the correct material grade.
Are cardboard produce trays food-grade certified?
The cardboard produce trays GWP manufactures are not food-grade certified (i.e. for direct food contact). However, their use is widespread for foods that are peeled, shelled, or washed before use (e.g., bananas, potatoes). Pre-packaged products are OK, too.
What weight can cardboard trays take?
By using custom cardboard trays, you can specify a material and design that accommodates almost any weight you require. Trays can be made from single- or double-walled materials in various grades and may include structural elements to enhance performance as needed.
Are cardboard trays supplied flat or assembled?
Cardboard trays are available fully assembled and ready for your packing staff to load. Alternatively, they can be supplied flat for easy assembly, often with no glue or taping required. This latter option also reduces storage requirements at your business.
