Shelf-Ready Packaging

Cardboard SRP

If large retailers stock your products or you are looking to get new brands listed, shelf-ready packaging boxes are vital in generating sales.

At GWP, we optimise the shelf-ready packaging (SRP) we manufacture for both delivery to retailers and in-store merchandising. Retail staff simply place your SRP boxes directly onto shelves before removing a tear strip to reveal individual products within.

Our packaging specialists, who have won awards for their bespoke shelf-ready packs, create designs that provide your business with exceptional product protection, enable efficient stocking and replenishment, and utilise bold print to help drive brand awareness and sales.

Case study: Bendicks shelf-ready pack reduces material use by 32%

Bendicks, a well-known UK confectioner, collaborated with GWP Packaging’s design team to address several packaging issues they were experiencing. Challenges included transit damage, inefficient shipping, poor in-store presence, and excessive material usage.

Following a project where both parties worked closely together, the redesigned shelf-ready pack was so successful that Bendicks utilised it across several other key lines.

FAQs

What is shelf-ready packaging?

Shelf-ready packaging (SRP is the acronym for this) is outer corrugated packaging that also contains products in their own specific packaging. It is termed shelf-ready because once delivered to the store, a tear-off section is removed, and the outer box is placed directly onto the shelf space. Consumers can then retrieve individual products from this.

What is the difference between SRP, RRP, and PDQ?

SRP and retail-ready packs (RRP) are effectively two different terms for the same product. A third name, PDQs (standing for Pretty Darn Quick), was a term used for shelf-ready packaging at Walmart stores to describe the time-saving nature of this form of packaging.

Can my shelf-ready packaging boxes be printed?

SRPs can (and really should) feature print. By including company logos, colours associated with your brand, and even special offers and promotions, printed shelf-ready packaging can help your products catch the consumer’s attention and drive sales.

Do major retailers accept these shelf-ready boxes?

GWP can ensure that your shelf-ready packaging conforms to the specific industry and retailer requirements, as applicable. Your shelf-ready packs are also tailored to the products within, ensuring protection during shipping to your stockists’ outlets.

Can shelf-ready packaging boxes improve sales?

Shelf-ready packaging can be essential for your business’s success. With three out of every four new SKUs failing to generate even £100,000 in sales in their first year of trading and often being de-listed by retailers, using printed SRPs can provide a significant advantage. In addition to helping get your products into large stores, their design can ensure that products are well displayed (merchandised) with little input from shop staff. Bold, bright print can catch attention in crowded retail environments, too.
