Detailed information on BDCM Boxes
If your business ships garments, clothing, fashion or even certain types of home wares, then you may already be aware that certain large retailers and sellers will only accept deliveries within specific sizes of transit packaging.
Typically requesting / stipulating BDCM or BDC boxes, these are a range of industry standard sizes designed to maximise the efficiency and space of delivery vehicles, warehouses and packaging stations.
Another feature of these BDCM cartons is that they include a printed “table” on the outside face, which allows for the manual writing of key delivery info such as catalogue number, season, sizes, colours, quantity and more.
Custom BDCM Cartons
But besides these standard features, by sourcing your BDCM cardboard boxes from GWP you can also specify a number of custom options. This can range from adding simple branding and logos through to the inclusion of layer pads or cardboard dividers (allowing greater use of the space within the cartons).
Produced to order from a lightweight yet durable single wall material, this allows for the boxes to remain light during transport and handling operations, as well as ensuring the boxes are as cost effective as possible.
Besides this, if your business does not specifically need to use the stock sizes provided by the BDCM bulk distribution cartons range, you can specify a custom size / style of postal packaging that will be tailored to your requirements. Doing so can reduce costs, material usage, and enhance space efficiency (both in storage and during transit).

BDCM Packaging FAQs
Please see below for answers to common questions asked about BDCM cardboard boxes
What does BDCM actually mean?
BDCM is an abbreviation of “Bulk Distribution Carton Metric”. Similar to BDC boxes (Bulk Distribution Carton) – the terms are often interchangeable – these are a range of industry standard sizes of packaging box, that are commonly used for shipping items such as clothing and other garments.
How many sizes are available?
There are 4 sizes of standard BDCM boxes available. These are BDCM1 (595 x 295 x 388 mm), BDCM2 (400 x 300 x 400 mm), BDCM3 (597 x 292 x 190 mm) and BDCM4 (394 x 292 x 191 mm). All dimensions are the internal of the boxes, and relate to length x width x depth.
What are BDCM Boxes manufactured from?
As they are commonly used for shipping clothes and material items, the weight of the contents of the boxes tend to not be excessive. As a result, a lightweight yet durable single wall cardboard material is used to keep the price of the boxes as low as possible. However, if you need a heavier duty box, GWP can manufacture these cartons from a range of different materials (including double wall).
Can I choose my own print?
Whilst the information panel that allows you to add shipment details manually is pretty much standard (or may even be specified by particular retailers), you can add your own logos and branding etc.
Why aren’t BDCM prices listed on this page?
GWP only manufacture products to order, rather than keep a range of standard sizes in stock. Whilst this may seem unusual for what is essentially a range of stock sizes, this approach allows you to choose custom options as required, as well as getting the most cost effective prices.
