What is a custom pallet?
Custom pallets are manufactured to a bespoke size. Custom dimensions may be necessary to accommodate a specific product or piece of equipment or to optimise the use of a particular storage space. Pallets can also include additional features, such as custom pallet collars.
What are standard UK pallet sizes?
Besides custom-size pallets, there are four standard and commonly used options. These are full Euro pallets (1200 x 800mm), half Euro pallets (600 x 800mm), standard UK pallets (1200 x 1000mm) and half standard pallets (600 x 1000mm).
What is the difference between UK and EU pallets?
Size is the main difference between Standard (UK) and Euro (EU) size pallets. Euro pallets are 1200 x 800 mm, whilst UK standard pallets are 1200 x 1000 mm.
Are there different types of pallets?
Besides timber pallets, it is possible to source plastic, metal and even corrugated cardboard pallets. However, these are not as widely used or accepted as wooden equivalents.
What is ISPM 15?
ISPM stands for “International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures”. It is effectively the industry standard for pallets and involves heat treatment to eliminate pests, contaminants and disease. Pallets must be ISPM-treated if used for export.
