Description
More info on Bubble Board material
Bubble-board consists of 3 layers which are joined together in a unique cellular structure to create a sheet material which uniquely is equally rigid in both dimensions.
The surfaces can also be over-laminated to provide additional properties and performance benefits.
The most common of these is the use of textiles, with various non-woven or spun-bound fabrics being used on one or both of the outer surfaces. Known as “anti scuff”, the fabric covering ensures that any items with highly polished, painted or decorated surfaces will not be damaged, scuffed or scratched during storage or transit.
Foam laminated board, also known as X Link Cushioning Bubble-board, provides both anti abrasive properties for the surface of items stored or transported, but also provides an additional layer of protection against shock, impact and vibration too.
Whilst GWP do not hold stock, it is also possible to source Bubble-board and similar materials (such as Bicell) that has had anti-slip coating added, VCI laminates that prevent the oxidisation of any metal components packaged within, plus insulating films that allow packaged goods to maintain a specific temperature for a prolonged period of time (particularly useful with packaging food and perishable items).
Applications for BubbleBoard material
Due to the many properties of the Bubble-board material, it is suitable for an almost limitless range of applications and industries. This includes the fabrication of re-usable and multi trip packaging (such as that supplied by GWP Correx®.
Its rigidity and hard-wearing nature mean that it is perfect for creating totes, storage bins, divider sets, layer pads and a wide range of other dunnage.
However, the addition of insulating film, soft textile laminates and the use of colours and pre-printed films also makes it suitable for promotional packaging, POS displays and even trade shows. It is also ideal for creating sleeves and can be used for transporting food produce too.
It is so versatile that it can even be used for lining the loading areas of vans and vehicles!

FAQs
Common questions regarding Bubbleboard
Think you may be interested in using Bubbleboard material, but have a few questions first? Please see below for the most common questions (and answers), or alternatively get in touch with a member of the GWP team.
What is BubbleBoard?
Bubble board is a plastic material comprised of 2 outer walls and a core of hermetically sealed cells (the “bubbles”). It is fully recyclable thanks to its manufacture from polypropylene-polyethylene copolymers, can be sterilised for use in clean rooms and medical applications, and is also suitable for a range of packaging applications.
What are the different laminate types?
There are 3 different types of Bubbleboard. There is the standard, unlaminated material, a version that includes a spunbond fabric laminate, and finally a foam laminated option. The fabric laminated version helps to prevent scratches to painted, polished or delicate items during transit, whilst the foam version takes this further and helps prevent against impact too.
What can Bubbleboard be used for?
Bubble board ca be used for a range of applications, although it is particularly suited for use in protective packaging (either as dividers, inserts, layer pads etc.). It can also be used for templating, floor protection, lining of commercial vehicles and even POS / promotional items.
Does Bubbleboard have fluting like Correx®?
Bubbleboard is different from Correx® in that it does not have fluting, but rather a series of hermetically sealed cells. The benefit of this is that it gives the material exceptional strength and resistance to bending on both directions.
Is Bubbleboard available in different colours?
Whilst the material held in stock at GWP is only available in white, grey and black (depending on the laminate chosen), it is possible to source Bubbleboard in custom colours. Please note this will be subject to minimum order quantities however (MOQs).
