Bubble Board

Correx® alternative

If you need a Correx® alternative, Bubble board is a versatile and useful option.

Bubble board is a lightweight, rigid, and waterproof plastic sheet made from polypropylene. Unlike Correx® and other corrugated plastics, it features a unique, hermetically sealed bubble-structured core between two flat outer layers. This structure provides excellent bi-directional strength. It can also feature fabric-laminated surfaces. Bubble board sheets are popular for high-quality printing, signage, display, and packaging applications.

At GWP, we are one of the few UK stockholders of Bubble board sheets. Using it to manufacture a range of textile dividers and inserts that protect surface finishes, we can also cost-effectively supply plastic board in low- to mid-volume quantities.

Standard bubble-board

Standard material

This material is not laminated, offering no additional properties.

Anti scuff bubble board

Anti-scuff material

This material features a laminate on both sides (70 gsm spunbond) to provide anti-scuff properties.

Additional information

Bubbleboard consists of three layers joined in a unique cellular structure to create a sheet material that is equally rigid in both dimensions.

The surfaces can also be over-laminated to provide additional properties and performance benefits.

The most common of these is the use of textiles, with various nonwoven or spun-bound fabrics applied to one or both outer surfaces.

The fabric covering ensures that any items with highly polished, painted or decorated surfaces are not damaged, scuffed or scratched during storage or transit.

Benefits of Bubble board sheets

By using Bubble board as a Correx® alternative, you can expect the following benefits:

  • Excellent strength proportional to thickness and resistance to bi-directional bending.
  • Hermetically sealed cells offer exceptional compression resistance.
  • Optional fabric laminate to protect delicate or decorative surfaces and finishes.
  • Recyclable thanks to its manufacture from polypropylene-polyethene copolymers.
  • Can be sterilised for use in clean rooms and medical applications.
  • Resistance to water, grease, oil and most chemicals.
  • Held in stock for short lead times and competitive pricing.

FAQs

What is Bubble board?

Bubble board is a plastic material comprising two outer walls and a core of hermetically sealed cells (the “bubbles”). It is fully recyclable thanks to its polypropylene-polyethene composition, can be sterilised for use in clean rooms and medical applications, and is also suitable for a range of packaging applications.

What is fabric-laminated Bubble board?

There are two different types of Bubbleboard. These are the standard, unlaminated material, and one that includes a spunbond fabric laminate. The fabric-laminated version helps prevent scratches to painted, polished, or delicate items during transit.

What is Bubble board used for?

Bubble board can be used for a range of applications, although it is particularly suited for protective packaging (as dividers, inserts, layer pads, etc.). Businesses also use Bubble board for templating, floor protection, lining of commercial vehicles and even POS or promotional items.

Does Bubble board have fluting like Correx?

Bubble board differs from Correx® in that it lacks fluting and instead features a series of hermetically sealed cells. The benefit of this structure is that it provides the material with exceptional strength and resistance to bending in both directions.

Is Bubble board available in different colours?

Whilst the material held in stock at GWP is only available in white and black, depending on the laminate chosen, it is possible to source Bubble board in custom colours. Please note bespoke colours are subject to minimum order quantities (MOQs).
