Ian, having completed his studies, worked in the steel industry for several years. However, deciding a change was in order, he joined Great Western Packaging (as GWP was then known) in 1995.
In 2003, Corstat – then based in Wootton Bassett just outside of Swindon – was acquired and became part of the newly formed GWP Group (and was eventually re-branded as GWP Conductive). Ian became Managing Director of this side of the business.
Due to his background and time at Corstat, Ian is the de facto expert on all things conductive packaging at GWP. However, he also headed up both the GWP Coatings and GWP Correx divisions of the business until 2023, the latter seeing exceptional growth over the last few years. This experience enabled him to develop outstanding knowledge and technical understanding of supply chain management, reusable packaging, and handling products. Although Ian retired in 2023, he maintains strong links with GWP and provides support, advice and consultation as required.
Outside of work, Ian enjoys staying fit. He has recently cycled from Lands’ End to John O’Groats and taken part in numerous charity runs and marathons. He also spends time supporting his motocross-racing grandson, Max Cook.
