Fluorescent tube coffins
If your business needs to safely and legally dispose of fluorescent lamps and bulbs, Correx® lamp coffins are the industry-recognised solution.
Lamp coffins are reusable containers used to store and transport waste fluorescent tubes safely. Typically manufactured from Correx® (corrugated plastic), fluorescent tube coffins prevent breakages that could lead to mercury release. They also help your business comply with UK hazardous waste and WEEE regulations. Fluorescent tube containers are also suitable for shipping and storage.
At GWP Correx, we can manufacture standard-sized or bespoke lamp coffins. By manufacturing in-house, we can also add handles, attached or removable lids, printed branding and instructions, plus a range of other options.
Please note: Correx® is a registered and/or unregistered trademark of Corplex Plastics UK Ltd, its parent, subsidiaries and/or affiliates.

FAQs
Are lamp coffins required for fluorescent tube disposal?
Fluorescent lights are considered hazardous due to the amount of mercury they contain (enough to pollute up to 30,000 litres of water). Despite this, it is possible to recycle practically all elements of a fluorescent tube. So, in response to legislation introduced in 2015, the majority of construction businesses utilise lamp coffins to store them safely while awaiting proper disposal and recycling.
Can Correx® lamp coffins be left outside on site?
The properties of Correx® – namely its resistance to water and weather, alongside its durability and hard-wearing nature – mean that, unlike cardboard, you can safely leave Correx® fluorescent tube disposal boxes outside on site.
What sizes of fluorescent tube disposal boxes are available?
Whilst Correx® lamp coffins are typically manufactured in sizes to accommodate 4ft, 6ft and 8ft fluorescent lamps and tubes, you can specify the exact size to suit your specific use or application. This size flexibility also makes Correx® fluorescent lamp recycling boxes suitable for many other uses.
Are Correx® lamp coffins suitable for other applications?
As essentially long storage boxes, lamp coffins are suitable for numerous other applications. For example, they are ideal for use as plastic shipping boxes if you have particularly long or unusually shaped items. Equally, they are perfect for the long-term storage of sensitive artefacts or museum collections due to their acid-free, almost completely inert nature (while also protecting against moisture, dust, etc.).
Are lamp coffins easy to store and assemble on site?
Supplied flat to save space during delivery, and when not in use, Correx® lamp coffins are easy for site employees to assemble without tools or adhesives such as glue or tape.
