Description
Detailed information on Luxury Foam Packaging
If your brand operates in luxury or premium sectors – such as perfumes / fragrances, designer goods and high-end drinks to name just a few – you’ll understand how difficult it can be to gain brand awareness and sales. And if you are trying to break into one of these markets, or position your brand as premium product, the challenge can be even greater.
However, the use of luxury foam packaging is a little-known advantage that can help catch consumer attention, whilst providing a premium feel to your products.
Plus, as it’s use is still relatively rare, using foam for retail packs can provide a real point of difference when compared with your competitors.
Luxury foam packaging can also create a truly striking appearance for your on-shelf packs, with a wide range of colours ensuring brand consistency, which can be enhanced further with engraving of logos / branding directly onto the foam surface. This can play a key role in grabbing consumer attention and, ultimately, helping to drive sales.
Protection as well as presentation
Besides the aesthetic impact and positioning of your brand as a luxury option, there are a number of other compelling arguments as to why your business should use retail foam packaging.
Firstly, foam will actually provide a great deal more protection during transit and handling than traditional card cradles and inserts. This not only limits returns and wastage (which depending on the value of the product can soon add up), but also helps to avoid disappointed consumers as well as negative brand association).
The Plastazote® polyethylene foam that your luxury packaging will be manufactured from are also odourless, inert and UV stable (this final point ensuring high quality is maintained even for slow moving lines). This means they are particularly suited to presentation foam applications.
Further to this, even if your products are in contact with the material for a prolonged period of time, the foam will not mark or stain the item(s) within. In fact, as with the damage protection detailed above, using foam can actually help reduce surface scratches or marring.
And finally, as the manufacturing / foam conversion processes used allow for exceptional accurate cutting and tolerances, you can be certain of a perfect fit between product, foam insert and outer packaging.

FAQs
Common questions about foam packaging
Interested in using luxury foam for your retail packaging, but have some questions? The below covers the most commonly asked questions regarding this product, but if you are still stuck please email or call us for further assistance.
Can using foam packaging give a premium feel?
Foam for luxury / retail applications can provide a very high end, premium feel for your product packaging. This is thanks to the high-quality finishes, smooth surfaces, precision fit and tactile nature of the material itself.
What colour foams are available?
Plastazote® foams are available in a range of more than 20 colours. Whilst this means it is not possible to exactly reproduce a specific Pantone, in practice a close match can usually be achieved. It is also possible to layer foam of different colours to create a range of different (and striking) visual effects.
Can the foam itself be branded?
Whilst it is technically possible to print onto foam, the results tend to not be particularly sharp or durable. A much better option is to laser engrave logos, text and graphics directly onto the foams surface. Using a laser ensures very accurate and crisp artwork reproduction, which will be much longer lasting too.
Why don’t many luxury brands use foam packaging?
The use of foam for luxury packaging is still relatively infrequent – although fast growing in popularity. What this means however at this moment is that because its use is not widespread, luxury foam packaging can provide your brand with a real point of difference, helping your brand stand out in what are often very competitive markets.
Will foam packaging smell when the outer pack is opened?
Plastazote® is completely odourless, meaning that there will be no chemical or unusual smell upon the end consumer opening any pack. As the foams are inert, they will also not mark or stain products, and are also unaffected by UV (i.e. they will not break down and / or fade).
