Description

More information on Crash lock boxes

Also commonly called self-locking cardboard boxes, Crash lock boxes are arguably the easiest and quickest type of corrugated packaging to assemble / pack.

Crash lock base cartons are designed in such a way that when the opposite corners are pushed towards each other, the base will automatically lock together to create a secure and rigid bottom to the container.

The clever design of crash lock boxes ensures that even though they are pre-glued, they can be supplied flat for the end user to assemble in one swift, easy action.

This means that using crash lock boxes can have a number of tangible benefits for your business. This includes not only quicker assembly – and therefore greater productivity – but also minimises RSI injuries for your packing teams, eliminates secondary packaging (no taping required) and much more besides.

Crash lock box manufacturers

Thanks to extensive experience and knowledge, plus a dedicated in-house packaging design team, by working with GWP your business can source crash lock boxes in an almost limitless range of sizes, shapes and designs, making them perfect for a wide range of applications and industries.

In fact, GWP will typically manufacture your crash lock boxes to a bespoke specification, ensuring that the performance, material and other features are precisely tailored to your requirements.

Additional services mean that any crash lock box you select can be also printed with branding, graphics and instructions. They can also be coated for special properties (including waterproofing and scuff resistance) and be created from a range of different materials / grades depending on the strength or cost considerations required.

Saying that, your crash lock boxes can be created from the majority of board grades and weights, including both single and twin walled construction, to create packaging with varying properties and performance.

So If you are looking for a simple, efficient and cost effective way to transport your parts or products, crash lock boxes are an excellent choice.

Key benefits of crash lock boxes at a glance

  • Reduces requirement for tape / secondary packaging
  • Works with a range of corrugated materials, including single and double wall
  • Can be enhanced with printed branding and graphics
  • Can also be coated to add specialist properties (water resistance, ant scuff surfaces etc.)

FAQs

Questions about Crash-lock packaging

Whether you have heard of or used crash lock boxes before (or do currently and are looking to switch suppliers), there can be a number of common questions regarding this type of box.

Please see below for answers to these, or alternatively get in touch if you still require further details.

What is a crash lock box?

Crash lock boxes – also known as self-locking cardboard boxes – are a form of packaging that requires very little assembly. The base of the carton simply folds out and locks in to place in a single action, meaning there is no need for gluing or taping.

How does a crash lock base work?

A crash lock base works through the base folding out as the corners of the box are pulled apart (they are supplied flat ready for erection). As the sides of the base come together, the profile of their sides locks together, forming a solid base.

What material can crash lock boxes be manufactured from?

Crash lock boxes can be manufactured form both single wall and double wall corrugated cardboard (similar designs can also be manufactured from Correx® plastic too). However, GWP will ascertain the best type of material to use based on your specific requirements (e.g. product size, weight, intended use etc.), ensuring you get the most cost effective option that doesn’t compromise performance.

Can I have a custom sized crash lock box?

All of the crash lock boxes that GWP manufacture are bespoke to your requirements. Not only does this allow for optimum performance, but also minimises wasted material (and cost) and can help to reduce shipping costs too (as you are not paying to ship empty space or excessive void fill).

Is it possible to have printed crash lock boxes?

Crash lock boxes can be easily printed during the manufacturing process. This can include everything from simple, single colour logos to bright, striking graphics. It can also be useful to include supplementary information such as handling instructions, disposal info etc.

I only need a few crash lock boxes – is this possible?

GWP Packaging are a trade supplier of corrugated packaging. This means that all of our products have minimum order quantities (MOQs) which are based on the amount of material used. If you only require a very low volume then we would be happy to recommend a stockist of standard cartons that could help.

Tailored Pricing / Specification

Source crash lock cartons for your business

GWP Packaging are one of the few companies in the UK that can manufacture bespoke crash lock packaging.

This is due to significant investment in multi-point gluing production equipment, as well as an experienced in house design team with an in depth understanding of corrugated cardboard material and constructional engineering.

However, this actually sums up GWP as a whole quite well.

We place an emphasis on ensuring your transit packaging is designed so that it is perfect for your specific products, market or application. And by manufacturing in house, using the latest equipment and highly skilled production staff, you can be certain that your packaging will be of the highest quality too.
