Detailed information on Shelf Ready Packaging
Shelf ready packaging offers a cost effective solution for both product presentation and transit protection.
Effectively comprising an outer transit packaging box that contains pre-packaged individual items inside, once your products arrive in store a simple tear section is removed, and the outer box placed directly onto the shelf.
This has a number of benefits.
Firstly, the shelf ready packaging protects the items during transit to stores and retail outlets.
Secondly, this format is both time and labour saving for your stockists. This can also help with getting products adopted into larger retailers, potentially driving vastly increased sales.
And thirdly, shelf ready boxes can significantly increase prominence in crowded retail environments. This can be achieved through striking print to grab consumer attention, but also the design of the SRP enabling good display / merchandising of your products with little to no effort on the part of your re-sellers / stockists.
Manufactured from high quality, durable corrugated cardboard, shelf ready retail packaging can also be easily disposed of (i.e. recycled) once all the products have been sold.
Why shelf ready packaging (SRP) is increasingly important
More so now than ever – particularly with the growth of ecommerce seeing consumers shift spending online – It takes time and effort to get your products into large retailers.
It can take months of sales pitches, negotiations, and meetings. But the results are worth it.
One aspect that can play an important role is the ease of which your products can be assimilated into the retailer’s current product range. Whilst pricing, features and “filling a gap” all play a role here, it is often overlooked that your product packaging (and even POS) does too.
This is why shelf ready packaging is critical –it allows retailers to stock your products with minimal difficulties, and also ensures consistent appearance throughout large chains of stores.

What is an SRP?
In essence, shelf ready packaging (SRP being the acronym of this) is outer corrugated packaging that also contains products in their own specific packaging too. It is termed as shelf ready as, once delivered to store, a tear off section is removed and the outer box is placed directly onto the shelf space. Consumers can then retrieve individual products from this.
What is the difference between, SRP, retail ready packs and PDQs?
SRP and retail ready packs (RRP) are effectively 2 different terms for the same product. A third name, PDQs (standing for Pretty Darn Quick) was a term used for shelf ready packaging at Walmart stores to describe the time saving nature of this form of packaging.
