02: Technical Specification & Features.
So what are Euro Boxes?
Put simply, Euro stacking boxes are a tough and durable handling or storage container manufactured from moulded plastic.
The Polypropylene material not only provides exceptional strength, but also ensures they are a long lasting alternative to corrugated cardboard or fluted plastics.
Widely used in a huge range of industries, Euro storage boxes (also referred to as Euro Stackers or plastic Euro crates) are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations.
The Euro boxes sizes are tailored to European standards, which virtually guarantees compatibility with your existing racking, shelves, conveyors, pallets and dollies. It also ensures different sizes can be stacked together safely too.
Handling Data
Maximum load 20Kg

03: Key Benefits.
Rigid plastic boxes for a range of storage and handling applications
GWP hold selected stock of the highly popular SSI Schaefer EF Series Euro Boxes – and are delighted to be exclusive UK Distributors for the conductive (ESD safe) versions.
Available on short lead times at competitive prices, the EF (Euro-Fix) Series of Euro Boxes are available in a wide range of sizes and are the ideal container for manual and automatic handling applications across a broad range of industries.
Specifying the SSI Schaefer Euro box range from GWP guarantees efficient supply, storage and distribution.
Sturdy stacking rims and flat bottom surfaces ensure that the containers can be securely stacked with a load of up to 600kg, independent of the area of use, whilst providing a durable, long lasting safe storage or multi trip packaging solution.
Advantages of Rigid Plastic Component Boxes
Whether used as manual transport containers – or for semi-automatic and fully automatic warehousing – SSI Schaefer EF series containers are used throughout all sectors that require efficient storage and handling. Quite simply, they are the toughest moulded tote boxes available today.
04: Cost Reduction.
Euro Box lifespan
There are three ways that Euro Boxes can provide a noticeable reduction in your costs. These are lifespan, damage reduction, and space efficiency.
Firstly, due to the durable nature of the Polypropylene material, the Euro containers are extremely long lasting. Whilst they may have a higher upfront unit cost than the alternatives, when spread over the longer lifespan they offer, it works out to be much more cost effective.
Effectively, you will not need to replace them (at additional cost) anywhere near as much.
Another often overlooked feature is how easy the smooth surfaces are to clean.
Whereas other materials (particularly corrugated cardboard) are simply discarded if they become dusty, dirty or wet, Euro boxes can be easily cleaned. This further extends their lifespan.
05: Product / Part Protection.
Reducing damages and space requirements
The inherent strength of the Euro stacking boxes also provides two other tangible ways to reduce costs. They are arguably the most heavy duty plastic boxes currently.
Firstly, items stored or moved within the totes are offered greater protection.
They are much less likely to be punctured, crack or split when compared with the alternatives, protecting their contents. The moulded plastic construction also protects against moisture, water, grease, oil, dust and most chemicals.
Secondly, the Euro plastic boxes are exceptionally space efficient.
They provide an excellent capacity to overall size ratio thanks to their straight walls, which is further improved by not having a lip or overhang affecting the loading of items.
Their stacking strength also allows for more efficient use of space during storage. The built in stacking rim ensures that even fully loaded euro boxes can be safely stacked. The standardised euro sizes also ensure they make optimum use of your racking and pallets too.
06: Productivity & Efficiency.
Benefits to improve your productivity
Another indirect – although significant – benefit to your business is that of improved productivity.
The stackable euro boxes boast a number of features that aid efficient handling and production. For example, ergonomic hand grips allow for easy use by factory or warehouse operatives.
The fact they are strong enough for loads of up to 20kg can also mean making fewer trips (i.e. more items can be moved in a single container).
The hinged lids can also allow for quick checking of stock if multiple items are placed within a single tote, whilst the use of custom dividers can also aid the quick checking of stock. This can be particularly important when being used on production lines, where a shortage of specific components could slow or even stop the line.

Options and enhancements for your totes
Besides being one the largest stock holders of SSI Schaefer products within the UK, GWP can offer an exclusive selection of bespoke options. These allow us to carefully tailor SSI Euro Boxes to practically any specific application or industry.
By using both Bubble-board and Correx® materials we can manufacture inserts, division sets and partitions to customise the Euro boxes and allow for greater flexibility in use.
We can also rout or die cut foam inserts and everything we supply or manufacture can be offered in ESD safe, anti static materials through our GWP Conductive division.
We are also able to offer SSI Schaefer insert trays to act as partitions within the outer boxes. As these are designed to work perfectly with the Euro boxes, they can be arranged in a variety of combinations to further aid the handling, sorting and picking operations.
An alternative to these are bespoke vac formed trays, which can be tailored to your specific parts or components. To see full the range of insert / dunnage options, please click here.
As a result SSI Schaefer Euro Boxes are suitable for a huge range of manufacturing and engineering industries, including automotive, electronics, aerospace, electronics and many others.
However, if a bespoke solution is required, GWP can call on its expertise in the fabrication of Correx® to create a custom size or design for any box or handling product.
Custom options for specific applications
Despite all of these benefits, it is actually possible to improve the Euro box range still further. This is achieved through the use of custom inserts, dividers, layer pads and even foam.
For example, internal divider sets manufactured from Correx® can help to segment products and prevent damage caused by the items colliding with each other.
Taking this a step further, using Bubble-board can also protect the surfaces of any components within the industrial plastic boxes. Preventing surface scratches and marks on polished or painted components can vastly reduce costs through minimising rejections.
If items are particularly fragile, then foam inserts can be used to provide cushioning protection. Similarly to divider sets, they can also aid stock identification and highlight shortages of particular parts.
Finally, it is possible to specify conductive Euro crate boxes that will protect any static sensitive parts your business may use or manufacture.
Particularly suited to electronics, a special ESD safe Polypropylene material channels any static discharge around the outside of the container, protecting the items within.
