Detailed information on BDC Boxes
BDC boxes (and the related BDCM range) are industry standard cartons in a small range of sizes. Typically used for fashion, clothing and catalogue businesses, many large organisations will stipulate that these boxes are used when receiving goods from their suppliers.
These shipping / postal boxes are typically manufactured from a durable yet lightweight single wall material (although double wall can be specified for specific applications as required). This allows for efficient and cost effective transit of the goods within.
BDC Cartons are also usually printed with a panel / table allowing for important information on the shipment to manually written on the box. This includes information such as the catalogue number, season, quantity being shipped, colour-ways, sizes and so on. You can select either an industry standard layout, or have one which is tailored to your own specific requirements.
Printed BDC Boxes
On the subject of print, they can also have a “cut line” printed on one face the boxes, to indicate where remove a section of material that will allow easy picking / retrieval of items in your or your customers warehouse. This is in addition to adding your branding and logos as required too.
BDC Boxes are also supplied flat to allow for easy storage at your premises, and they are easily assembled with a tape fixture (they are an 0201 FEFCO style).
However, if you do not specifically need to ship using BDC cardboard cartons, you can specify bespoke sizes / styles that can be tailored to the particular requirements of your business or products.

BDC Carton FAQs
Please see below for a number of commonly asked questions regarding BDC boxes.
What does BDC Stand for?
BDC stands for Bulk Distribution Carton. BDC boxes are a range of specific size of box that are commonly used for shipping garments, and as a result are commonly used by retail, catalogue and large ecommerce businesses.
What sizes are available?
There are 3 size BDC cartons available. These are BDC1 (610 x 280 x 357 mm), BDC2 (406 x 279 x 356 mm) and BDC3 (405 x 280 x 185 mm). All dimensions relate to the internal length x width x depth.
What material are BDC boxes made from?
As they are commonly used for shipping garments, material strength is not generally a key requirement. As such, a lightweight single wall material is commonly used in order to maximise available space within the box, and minimise the weight during shipping.
Can BDC boxes be printed?
Standard BDC boxes come with a standard printed panel / table that allows for manual addition of key information (e.g. colours, sizes, catalogue no. etc.). You can also add custom graphics and logos as required.
Will BDC boxes be accepted by my customers?
Some large retailers may only accept deliveries in specific cartons, such as BDC and BDCM. Whilst you must always check with the specific businesses involved, GWP will be able to manufacture your BDC cartons to meet any specific requirements.
Customisation / Options
Enhancing your standard packaging lines
Although BDC cartons are offered in standard sizes, there are a number of ways that you can enhance them.
This includes adding your logo and branding to the exterior, as well as custom information panels too. If not being used for clothing, you can also dividers and layer pads in order to maximise the available space within the boxes, as well as improve packing efficiency
