Driving sales and awareness in retail environments
Whilst ecommerce sales continue to grow (and many people lament the decline in traditional retail activity), having a presence in bricks and mortar stores can still be absolutely critical for many brands and businesses.
Impulse purchases can be a surprisingly large factor in the success of many types of product. This is why the prevalence of cardboard point of sale (POS) units is still as ubiquitous today as it has been at any point over the preceding 10 – 15 years.
But how do you take advantage of this opportunity? Will retailers allow you the space to showcase your products? How can you maximise brand awareness and the sales this will generate?
GWP Packaging can help you with all of this and more.
Thanks to a custom design service, your cardboard point of sale display can be manufactured in practically unlimited variations – comprising different sizes, colours and with additional printing options.
And, by working alongside a supplier that can provide all of the packaging and POS you require – everything from FSDU, CTUs, printed packaging and much more – it ensures consistency of appearance and quality across all of your promotional collateral.
With Point-of-sale units and packaging predominantly being used for displaying products or items in retail environments, the appearance of your cardboard display units is absolutely critical.
As a result, any POS and packaging you source from GWP will not only be aesthetically pleasing and striking, but will be tailored to catch your intended consumer’s attention and drive brand awareness amongst your target demographic.
This is reflected in the wide range of printing options that complement the array of differing (and customisable) structural designs that you can select from when specifying your cardboard POS.
Cardboard POS FAQs
Commonly asked question concerning branded boxes
Don’t know your FSDU from your CTU? Need to know how POS can be tailored to provide maximum exposure? Or have other questions regarding cardboard display stands?
The below provides answers to the most commonly asked questions on this topic but, if you still require further info, please get in touch with a member of the GWP team today.
What does POS stand for?
POS is an acronym for Point of Sale. What this means when referring to cardboard POS is display stands or units that are positioned in retail environments near the point of where purchases are typically made (i.e. checkouts, tills etc.). They are generally used for generating impulse purchases or highlighting specific brands / products (including new launches).
What is an FSDU?
FSDU stands for Free Standing Display Units. These are large units, often manufactured from cardboard, which can be used to display a large number of products. Whilst often included at the point of sale, free standing cardboard displays can also be used for product launches or for displaying specific brands / collections of products more prominently. They are also suitable for where there is limited shelf space.
What is a CTU / CDU?
CTU or CDU is an abbreviation for Counter Top Unit or Counter Display Unit, respectively. These are small display stands used on counters, in product displays or near tills to showcase products. Often made from cardboard, their small size means they can be repositioned to drive maximum sales.
Will cardboard POS be compatible with my existing packaging?
Cardboard POS will be designed to work seamlessly with any existing retail packaging products. They can be adapted to display anything including cans, plastic bottles, hanging tab packaging or other cardboard packaging. It is also possible to source both retail product packaging and POS from GWP at the same time.
Is POS supplied flat packed direct to store?
The vast majority of POS is supplied flat in order to minimise transit / postage costs. Typically, these would be manufactured and supplied to a central distribution hub, which would then send these out to individual retail outlets as and when required (particularly for product launches / seasonal campaigns).
Are POS units easy to assemble?
POS units are usually easy to assemble and can be supplied with printed instructions for retail staff to be able to do this in store themselves. This approach allows for minimised postage costs and also ensures that the POS looks pristine when erected.
Is cardboard a good choice for POS units?
Cardboard is widely used for POS for a number of reasons. It is cost effective (making it ideal even for short lived promotions), lightweight for transit and easy handling, surprisingly robust and durable and of course can be enhanced with a wide range of high-quality print options.
Can I get all my packaging and POS from the same supplier?
You can source all of your POS, retail, and printed boxes – and even transit packaging – from GWP. What this single source opportunity means in practice is lower costs, better quality, improved consistency in terms of appearance, less admin and generally making your life easier!
