About standard pallet boxes
Standard pallet boxes are among the most popular options for exporting or bulk-shipping products.
Using the UK standard-size pallets with a 1200 x 1000mm footprint, you can source these pallet boxes from stock on short lead times.
Their widely accepted size maximises the space available within your delivery vehicles, warehouse racking, and shipping containers. This efficiency means reducing your transport costs while lowering C02 emissions.
The cap, tray and sleeve design also means that standard pallet boxes can fold flat when not in use. This feature saves space when in storage or return transit. The design also allows for your packing staff to assemble when required easily.
Pallets heat treated to ISPM 15 ensure you meet all export requirements. And, regardless of where you are sending your standard pallet boxes, the durable corrugated cardboard material ensures the contents are protected.
As GWP manufactures pallet boxes in-house, you can also choose to modify standard pallet boxes. Maintaining the same footprint, you can alter the height, design, material grade and add printing or custom fittings.
Key benefits of standard pallet boxes
The main features and advantages of standard pallet boxes include:
- Use standard UK pallet size of 1200 x 1000mm.
- Maximises space in warehouses, transport and shipping containers.
- Durable outer material to protect contents.
- ISPM 15 heat-treated pallets suitable for export.
- Easily manoeuvred thanks to two-way entry pallets.
- The cap, sleeve and lid can collapse flat when not in use, minimising storage requirements.
- Easy to assemble (and collapse) for your packaging staff.
- Can be customised with internal fittings and printed branding/instructions.

What size are standard pallet boxes?
Standard-size pallet boxes use the 1200 x 1000mm pallet. Whilst the height of the commonly used pallet boxes held in stock is 1000 mm, you can also specify custom heights to accommodate specific products or equipment (subject to order volumes).
What is a full container pallet box?
A full container pallet box and “palletised container” are interchangeable terms often commonly used for standard pallet boxes.
Are standard pallet boxes different from euro pallet boxes?
Whilst euro pallet boxes are also a standard option, they typically differ in size. Standard pallet boxes have a footprint of 1200 x 1000mm, whilst Euro pallet boxes (or 1/1 Europa) use a pallet size of 1200 x 800mm.
Can standard pallet boxes be used for export?
Standard pallet boxes are ideal for exporting products. However, the pallets must be heat treated to ISPM 15 standards. If you only ship items within the UK, you can use non-treated pallets.
Are standard pallet boxes available from stock?
For low volumes of pallet boxes, GWP’s parent company, Macfarlane, keeps stock of a range of sizes and options you can source on short lead times. However, if you require higher volumes and/or custom features (such as print or internal fittings), GWP will manufacture your pallet boxes to your exact specifications.
Tailored pallet box pricing
Although standard pallet boxes are considered a stock item, GWP does not list prices on this site. This is because we frequently find that using a custom pallet box – even if it uses the standard 1200 x 1000mm pallet- typically provides optimum performance (and long-term cost).
Options such as material grade, the wood used for the pallet, the pallet boxes height and design, plus specialist options such as external printing and custom inserts, can all influence the price you pay (as can the number of pallet boxes you need).
Free quotes and advice
As such, GWP is happy to provide a free, no-obligation quote on any type of pallet box you require. This price is tailored to you, allowing you to source a pallet box that is perfect for your specific application and at competitive prices.
A team of experts will advise on the best option for your business and will be completely honest and open about whether a stock pallet box or a custom version would be best suited to your needs.
