Further Information

Genuine expertise in both static and foam performance

Anti-static packaging is a very specialised discipline – in that not many regular packaging companies would have the knowledge, designers, or manufacturing equipment to make successful ESD solutions.

The same can also be said about foam packaging.

Whilst anyone can line a box with foam, or create some inserts, knowing the intricacies of the material, how it behaves, and the optimum grade / amount to provide the required protection, applies to only a handful of companies.

Get it right however, and the extra level of protection provided by the use of well-designed foam packaging ensures that whatever the component, circuit board or PCB being shipped, it will arrive at its destination undamaged.

Expertise in foam conversion

Due to the way in which the wider GWP Group has been formed, your business can benefit from the combined knowledge of 2 divisions – one focusing on conductive packaging, and the other on foam.

With a close collaboration between the two divisions, you can be certain that any anti-static foam that you source from GWP, will not only protect from electro static discharge, but can give a tailored level of physical protection too.

This can even involve calculating the exact type and amount of foam required using specialist software.

The wide range of foams available are converted by GWP using techniques including CNC routing, die cutting and even CNC water jet cutting.

Coupled with being able to source your exterior boxes, totes, and packaging from a single source, if you need conductive foam of any description, GWP should be your first port of call.

Anti-Static Foam FAQs

Common questions regarding applications for specialist ESD foams

Please see below for a list of the most commonly asked questions on the topic of anti static foam material and packaging.

Can’t find the answer to your specific question? Don’t worry – please contact a member of the GWP team on 01793 754 457 or email conductive@gwp.co.uk, who will be happy to help.

What types of anti-static foam are there?

There are a number of options when looking for anti-static foam packaging, all of which provide slightly different properties and performance. This includes Pink anti-static foam, Conductive Plastazote®, static dissipative and specialist grades of Ethafoam.

Will these protect against mishandling as well as static?

Besides helping to protect static sensitive items from ESD (electro static discharge), a key reason to use foam inserts of any form is the cushioning protection they also provide. They can absorb shock and impact caused by mishandling and can even be designed with the optimum amount / type of material to provide precisely calculated protection.

Can any ESD packaging have foam inserts included?

Almost all of the ESD safe packaging and handling products manufactured by GWP Conductive can have foam inserts added as required. This can be anything as simple as foam blocks or pads, all the way through to routed foam inserts that are contoured to exactly match the shape of your products.

How are anti-static foam products manufactured?

Anti-static foam (and other forms of foam packaging) is manufactured in a number of ways. This includes, die cutting, CNC routing and even waterjet cutting. GWP boast an impressive, state of the art foam conversion facility in Salisbury, Wiltshire, alongside a well-equipped design studio.

Can my business source non-conductive foam from GWP?

GWP Protective are one of the UK’s top foam converters. This means that not only can your business source anti-static foam products, but also inserts for cases, foam end caps, and even retail display items. All of the foam inserts GWP supply are tailored to be precisely tailored to your specific application / requirements.
