Major Contract For Organic Food Packaging

Local packaging company GWP Packaging have secured a prestigious contract to supply boxes to transport organic food for leading home delivery business Abel & Cole. This two year contract relates to both the supply of moisture barrier protected boxes and a role in developing new packaging for future products.

 GWP Packaging MD, Ruth Cook values the importance of continuing to focus on top quality product design and manufacture even during difficult economic conditions: “We know how easy it is to focus on costs when times are difficult, but we remain firmly committed to high levels of customer service and to developing our customer base. Major players like Abel & Cole want to work with quality suppliers and we are delighted to have secured this contract.”

 Customers of Abel & Cole are encouraged to return the boxes after they have received their delivery of fresh organic food and so this type of environmental packaging has to survive numerous trips. This reinforces the need for a high quality, reliable product and GWP Packaging had to satisfy Abel & Cole that they were capable of meeting stringent product requirements. These boxes also have to be 100% recyclable, something Ruth Cook feels passionate about. “We are totally committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible, both within our operation at Chelworth Park, Cricklade and in working with our customers. It is great to have a potential new client ask for a fully recyclable product. The answer is a definite yes.”

GWP utilise sophisticated inventory management software tailored to the client needs in order to add the science into the process. Abel & Cole will need high levels of service with a minimum of three deliveries a week. Managing inventory for such clients has to be handled professionally and the systems need to be trustworthy. Abel and Cole are also able to call off product and view their stocks via a web based utility, thanks to software especially developed by the GWP Group to optimise the ease of transactions.
